Automation Engineer - hybrid

Our client is a successful control systems integration company in the Twin Cities. They have been around for over 30 years and have a casual, family oriented office environment and excellent benefits.
They are looking for a strong control systems engineer/program developer to develop Visual Basic, VB.NET, OPC Driver, and SQL Database based control systems projects. Provide technical leadership on projects and ensure successful implementation of required project scope and customer satisfaction. Participate as a key team member in research and development. Participate as a key team member for customer technical support and sales. Provide technical input and support for product development to promote profitability, production efficiency, quality, service, and cost-effectiveness.

Primary Responsibilities:

*Provide controls systems design, specification, programming, simulation, testing, on-site start-up and training;

*Generate detailed project documentation folder upon project completion;

*Provide user/operator interface programming;

*Provide PC programming and network configuration;

*Provide Server and Database programming and configuration;

*Assure the company and its mission, programs, products and services are consistently presented in strong, positive image;

*Promote positive relations with partners, vendors, and distributors;

*Develop and maintain customer contact for maintenance and support services;

* Identify and help resolve customer technical and product development concerns;

Additional Responsibilities:

*On-site commissioning and training.

*Participate in 24/7 Support Team coverage (phone and on-line Internet VPN).

Knowledge and skill requirements:

*Proven experience with operator interface technologies (SCADA, HMI).

*Proven experience with PC programming and configuration (Visual Basic, VB.NET).

*Proven experience with Server and Database programming and configuration (SQL Server).

*An AS or BS in Electrical, Industrial, or Computer Engineering is desired.

*A minimum of (5) years' experience in a similar position is required.

*Experience in the Rubber Mixing/Processing industry is a plus.

Working Conditions:

*Typical office environment at company facility. (Flex hours)

*Participation in 24/7 Support Team coverage. (Typically 1 week per 6 weeks, requires evening and weekend availability to respond to support calls.)

*On-Site trips to customer's manufacturing facilities (Typically two weeks per two months, may require extended working hours and weekends.)
