- Manage the team responsible for the assigned clients ensuring accuracy and timeliness of reporting.
- Maintain and control the general ledger and various sub-ledgers
- Prepare and review partner capital statements
- Prepare and review limited partner and general partner allocations
- Prepare and review trial balances and supporting work papers
- Review capital activity that pertains to the funds including capital calls, distributions, and transfers
- Prepare and review fee calculations including (but not limited to) management fees, admin fees, waterfall clawback, and carried interest calculations
- Manage and monitor the timing and quality of client deliverables
- Interact with senior management and manage relationships for multiple clients
- Provide technical accounting/industry knowledge to clients
- Establish plan for new client setup and transitions
- Coordinate with Operations, Financial Statement, Tax, and Investor Relations groups
- Coordinate, manage, and monitor external audit process
- Review and interpret private equity fund client's partnership agreements, PPMs and other materials
- Implementation and proper set up of fund structures on accounting system
- Provide supervision and oversight of their accounting staff including the hiring, training, coaching and development of staff.
- Provide leadership within the global accounting functional team
- Provide leadership by working with the Global Process Team to identify, document, and implement new processes, procedures, and best practice. Provide training and education to the investor services and fund accounting teams.
- Identify system enhancements and reports to improve operational efficiency or client service, and reduce operational risk. Responsible for implementing new technologies or applications within own field of responsibility and stays abreast of industry information.
- 4 yrs Bachelors Degree in Accounting/Finance
- 8+ years related experience in either a private equity fund, private equity administrator, or other financial institution
- Demonstrated customer service and continuous improvement focus
- Strong knowledge of financial markets and alternative investments
- Proven ability to manage and develop employees
- Demonstrated leadership in coaching and motivating team members
- Knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS
- Audit/Control Minded
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and organization skills
- Knowledge of the investor accounting and reporting process for private equity funds including (but not limited to) capital calls, transfers, distributions, rebalancing, waterfall calculations, clawbacks, carried interest, management fees, side pockets, special allocations, opt in/out, hurdle and catch-up rates, and IRR calculations
- Familiar with alternative investment fund structures including (but not limited to) master/feeder, stand alone, fund of funds, and share based/capital accounts
- Experience reading and interpreting private equity fund documents (PPM, LPA, etc)
- Ability to work in changing, fast-paced work environment
- Knowledge of the Advent Geneva, and industry leading private equity accounting systems (Investran, TNR)
- Familiar with ILPA reporting standards
- MBA, CPA, or CFA Level 1
