Sr. Manager, UX - Remote
The enterprise Experience Design Team at Principal is looking for a Sr. Manager, UX with superb communication skills to join our Customer Experience (CX) hub. Ideally someone who's adept at navigating priorities and stakeholders and is an avid mentor, eager to share what they've learned. Strong visual design and writing skills are a plus. In this role, you''ll provide strategic leadership in the development of customer experiences, as well as translation of the vision into tangible business goals and capabilities.
What you'll be working on:
You'll be the lead designer on a cross-functional product team that uses collaborative, human-centered design practice to better understand the needs of our existing customers and prospective customers. You'll use that understanding to collaborate with Product Managers and business stakeholder to develop our public site strategy and lead design and research that will attract new business and help individuals better understand their finances.
You'll also lead a team of mid-level and junior designers, helping them maximize and grow their capabilities. You'll help them derive actionable insights from a combination of research and analysis methods, and reinforce, refine, and evolve our visual language and brand style on the web in partnership with our brand and design system teams. You'll be an advocate for creating accessible experiences that strive to deliver equitable experiences that meet the needs of users whatever their ableness. You'll also be an active designer, using best practices and taking advantage of modern trends to create functional and stylish pages and applications.
You'll help foster an inclusive and collaborative environment for fellow designers and our partners that values empathy and understanding. What you'll do:
Build credibility and trust with stakeholders, leaders, and teams (enterprise and business units) to support a collaborative, well-informed culture.
Evaluate designs and perform heuristic analysis of user interfaces to inform design direction.
Provide guidance on UX best practices and uphold our brand promise, and lead by example in doing both.
Create low and high fidelity prototypes that leverage our design system and help align customer and business needs.
Keep up with developments and trends in the experience design space.
Ensure design deliveries achieve WCAG 2.1 compliance standards.

We are looking for someone with:
7+ years of relevant, related experience design experience
7+ years of management/leadership experience which includes a combination of leading work groups, project and people management
Proven track record of customer-centric decision-making and UX-focused work with a portfolio of case studies to match.
Experience leading a range of UX research and customer understanding methods.
Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred, especially in human-computer interaction, management information systems, graphic design, or other design-related field. Candidates with a diverse range of backgrounds will be considered.
Successful candidate will have the following:
Certified User Analyst (CUA) or Certified User Experience Analyst (CXA) certifications are nice to have.
Experience using or leveraging tools such as:
Design tools (Figma especially, but XD, Sketch, or other)
User research tools (UserZoom, ~~~, etc.)
Web analytics (Google Analytics 360, Adobe Analytics, etc.)
Behavioral analytics (HotJar, SessionCam, MouseFlow, etc.)
A/B and multivariate testing tools (Google Optimize, Maxymiser, Visual Website Optimizer (VWO), etc.)
Salary Range Information
Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
$87550 - $172800 / year
