Job Description

We are looking for an energetic, skilled facilitator of culture and leadership development methodologies to join our Cat Solutions and Services Division as a Senior Culture and Leadership Consultant for Caterpillar Safety Services.

At Caterpillar, we have been on our own journey to continuously improve our safety performance. We are also in the business, through our Safety Services team, of helping customers across numerous industries transform and sustain cultures of safety excellence. We do this through the facilitation of our safety leadership and culture transformation processes – solutions we’ve proven internally and now leverage with customers who seek to embed safety as a manageable business function.

As a Senior Culture and Leadership Consultant, you will be responsible for the execution of customer contracts secured by Caterpillar Safety Services. You will guide, schedule and facilitate all activities with customers to build safety management systems of excellence through the Zero-Incident Performance (ZIP™) Process, the Leadership Development and Coaching solution and/or the individual programs and tools within these solutions. Internally, you will build relationships within the Caterpillar Enterprise to foster the continuous improvement of our safety culture, and to build awareness about the expertise and solutions Safety Services can bring to customers in any industry.

Job Duties:

Lead the customer consulting relationship once a contract is in place, including scheduling all deliverables. This requires close collaboration with the Consulting Project Coordinator and Account Manager(s) to ensure effective scheduling and coordination of resources, and eventually to identify repeat business and/or referral opportunities.

Formulate a strategic plan with each assigned customer to ensure successful execution of all culture change initiatives; develop relationships with customer executives to ensure effective leadership of safety culture initiatives and the allocation and deployment of resources necessary for success.

Utilize standardized materials to ensure the coaching of leaders to embrace and demonstrate a visible commitment to safety; direct and oversee the development of systems of accountability; and guide employee-led continuous improvement teams through the development and deployment of leading indicator processes that integrate safety into every part of the business. Support the overall continuous improvement of the customer’s safety culture as measured by leading indicators, lagging indicators, and other approved metrics.

Collaborate with individual team members from multiple functional disciplines (consulting, business development, production, and administration) to execute contracts, identify business opportunities, improve processes and materials, and participate in projects to continually enhance and grow Caterpillar culture and leadership solutions.

Consistently demonstrate and role-model the values and behaviors expressed and taught by Safety Services, specifically the Cat Solutions and Services Division values of Initiative, Grit and Straight Talk. Demonstrate these values in customer-facing work and internal interactions. Recognize, through appropriate feedback, the demonstration of these values in fellow team members and customer contacts.

Extensive travel is required (up to 75% of working time). This position requires a high degree of accountability to achieve performance targets while working independently, usually from a home office. Non-travel, home office, time will be utilized to complete tasks and projects which support customer-facing work, generate repeat and new business and contribute to Caterpillar team development.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Management, Environmental Health and Safety Management, Psychology, Human Resources, Communications, or equivalent job-related experience in lieu of degree.

10+ years of relevant experience in the fields of practice or related industries and leadership.

Top Candidates will also have:

Strong consulting/training/facilitation skills and a polished, professional presentation style. Ability to command an audience with confidence and credibility.

Exceptional human relations and interpersonal communication skills.

Continuous improvement, lean, and change management experience.

Strong business management acumen.
