Job Description and Requirements

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of fast-paced Engineering Information Technology Team. It is a senior level critical leadership role in Platform Support Group. In this critical role, you will be managing customer expectations, serving as communication channel between various business group resource managers and the IT organization. In addition to this, you will be leading Platform Support Group managing complex EDA engineering environment which is composed of over 500M processor cores in BareMetal, Openstack and various other virtualized configurations running various Linux flavors, Capacity planning, forecasting and acquisition of servers, Planning and executing regular patching and upgrades of environment, Evaluate, improve and implement new processes as well as Technologies to increase reliability, productivity and user experience.

What you will do:

• Manage a team of infrastructure/Linux engineers, including task planning and execution.
• Drive technical projects and provide leadership in an innovative and fast-paced environment.
• Responsible for health and performance of large-scale, high-performance Engineering Linux environments which includes 20,000+ servers in BareMetal / Openstack environment globally
• Actively engage with key stakeholders from user communities for technical issues, future enhancements as well as introduction of new technologies/workflows to improve business productivity
• Be responsible for design, implement and optimize existing high-performance, large-scale Linux Clusters
• Capacity planning, acquisition and managing logistics of various hardware server platforms
• Develop and extend frameworks to scale the technology across various hardware and software configurations
• Build tools and automation pipelines to ensure constant monitoring of the HPC clusters
• Work across teams to facilitate high performance and reliability of Engineering compute infrastructure

• Manages and evaluates the work of assigned professional technical staff. Responsible for hiring and termination decisions, performance management, salary evaluations, and disciplinary actions.
• Reviews, adapts, and implements departmental policies and procedures. Ensures compliance with success metrics in the process of achieving departmental goals.
• Recommends, implements, and completes projects according to predetermined departmental goals.
• Administers complex configuration, installation, and maintenance of operating systems and upgrades, patches, applications, Diagnoses complex hardware and software problems. Manages and recommends system configurations and consults on system lifecycle issues.
• Determines applicability and feasibility of new operating systems, software upgrades and patches with full consideration of application, hardware requirements, security, and end-user requirements.
• Designs, deploys, and documents build process of new servers and applications. Develops and maintains scripts and applications for system configuration, management, maintenance, and logging.
• Makes system enhancements and modifications based on evolving business requirements.
• Functions as liaison with systems vendors. Coordinates work associated with vendor's maintenance agreement obligations. Tracks design and operational problems to be corrected by vendor.

• 8-10 years of experience of working in HPC/EDA environment with management experience
• Preferred MS or BS in Computer Science
• Good communication, including writing, speaking and active listening
• Strong leadership and conflict management skills
• Foster strong internal and external network and work across multiple teams to achieve business objectives
• Customer service and interpersonal skills
• Excellent attention to detail
• Developing rapport with different teams across different culture in the role of international manager
• Empathy and patience to understand teams and nurture team building
• Knowledge and experience on Metal as a service platform like MAAS, Foreman, Cobbler, Satellite/Spacewalk etc.
• Deployment and maintenance of large scale Openstack / Private Cloud environment
• Knowledge of any container platforms like Kubernetes/ Openshift/Tanzu/RKE/MKE etc.
• Knowledge of Ansible/Terraform for IaaS and configuration management
• Experience in provisioning and deployment of workload on public like AWS/Azure/GCP
• Experience in managing large scale Linux platform like RedHat/CentOS/Ubuntu/SLES
• Basic Knowledge of Directory Services like LDAP/NIS/AD
• Networking fundamentals
