Principal Software Engineer

The Networking Engineering team delivers next-generation platforms, application enhancements and new products for a changing world. Working at the cutting edge, we design and develop network software for data center platforms, applications and diagnostics — all with the most advanced technologies, tools, software engineering methodologies and the collaboration of internal and external partners. What you’ll achieve
As a Software Principal Engineer, you will be responsible for developing sophisticated systems and software based on the customer’s business goals, needs and general business environment creating software solutions.

You will:

  • Design and develop for Dell's entire portfolio of data center and campus networking switches
  • Take part in the full software development life cycle including development, test, continuous delivery and support
  • Develop & integrate networking stack with Linux kernel and switching ASICs
  • Be an active member of an agile team, collaboratively realizing features through development, test and delivery
  • Enthusiastically represent Dell in technical forums as part of Open Source communities, Deliver high quality code to Enterprise customers and to the Open Source community

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or related field, 8+ years of in-depth experience in developing software for enterprise grade infrastructure (networking, storage etc), Proficiency in C/C++ programming and Python/Golang is highly required
  • Solid understanding of low-level network architecture and IP networking protocols, familiar with large scale datacenter architecture and networking protocols such as BGP/IP Multicast/SRv6 etc.
  • Motivated individual with curiosity to solve scaling, complex and challenging problems, agility to adapt to technologies and processes quickly.

Desirable Requirements

  • Development experience in open source SONiC/FRR Community
  • Experience with overlay networking technologies like VxLAN, DCI interconnect, EVPN, Hands on experience with use of Broadcom SDK, Trident family architecture
