Job Description

About the role:

You will lead GxP Learning and Development (L&D) for the Los Angeles site. You will ensure our people have the skills and competence to produce life-saving therapies safely, right first-time, every time. The team comprises Technical Trainers and Learning Management System (LMS) Administrators. While you report directly to the site organization, you will partner with Takeda Global Learning and Development, along with other sites so we are Stronger Together.

We are flexible and agile in our operations and are implementing new technologies. This has possible effects for how we develop our people.

The challenge, while maintaining full compliance with regulations, is to transform the site's GxP training systems and capabilities. We have great potential to use current technologies, apply best-practice adult-learning techniques and extend training coverage beyond safety and quality to include operational effectiveness while at the same time achieving breakthroughs in duration to competence. You will collaboratively develop and implement strategies, projects and actions to grow our capabilities. These projects will include elements such as establishing the site's Technical Training Academy and growing our digital training capabilities through appropriate technologies such as XR. You will report to the head of business excellence.

How you will contribute:

Operational Responsibilities:

  • Lead the site's L&D team including trainers, instructional system designers and LMS administrators
  • Ensure the site's continuing compliance in GxP training
  • Provide information and analytics on ongoing training operations
  • Improve the site's L&D capabilities
  • Partner with site leaders and ensure the site's development needs are met
  • Partner with Digital, Operational Excellence, Quality and EHS teams to ensure we create training content that inspires our performance
  • Represent the site's GxP training and competence in regulatory and compliance audits

Transformation:

  • Collaboratively develop and implement projects to work towards the vision, including establishing the site's Technical Training Academy, and appropriate technologies such as XR
  • Develop team capabilities in ISD, digital technologies and being business partners
  • Ensure L&D is considered as an important element of the site's improvement projects and changes
  • Lead the future upgrade/replacement LMS in partnership with IT.
  • Must be proficient in written and oral English.
  • Knowledge of current Learning and Development systems, practices and techniques, and ability to communicate 'what good looks like' in terms of L&D
  • Experience in FDA-regulated businesses such as bio/pharmaceuticals, biotechnology or life sciences is preferred

What you bring to Takeda:

  • Typically requires bachelors' degree, preferably in science, engineering or other related technical field.
  • 6+ years of related experience with 1+ years supervisor experience. Qualifications and/or certifications in learning and development field strongly preferred.
  • Experience in a highly regulated industry such as aerospace or pharmaceuticals strongly preferred.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull and carry up to 10 lbs.
  • In general, the position requires a combination of sedentary work and walking around observing conditions in the facility
  • Must be able to work in controlled environments requiring special gowning. Will be required to follow gowning requirements and wear protective clothing over the head, face, hands, feet and body
  • No make-up, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish or artificial fingernails may be worn in the manufacturing environment.
  • May work in a cold and/or wet environment.
  • Must be able to work multiple shifts, including weekends.
  • May be required to work in a confined area.
  • Some Clean Room and cool/hot storage conditions.
