The Senior Engineering Manager, Acoustics, Mechanics, and Packaging will lead a team that partners with all commercial HVAC product engineering groups to design and provide simulation technologies, for all aspects of acoustics, mechanics, and packaging engineering functions. Potential focus areas include, simulation, testing processes, product/component acoustical design, product structural integrity for shipping/lifting/handling, product airflow, product vibration & dynamics, product vibro-acoustics & aero-acoustics and product packaging. Work closely with product and technology development teams around the globe.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team of 12 Engineers.
- Support and carry out the advancement and growth of the Acoustics, Mechanics, and Packaging Engineering function and its team. This includes technology growth in computational and experimental tools, and design applicable to commercial HVAC products, low noise fans/blowers, low noise compressors, low noise cabinets, mufflers and sustainable packaging.
- Participate in Annual Operating Planning (AOP) process to identify resource needs and financial budget for your team.
- Develop and maintain functional relationship with Product Engineering Leaders throughout Trane Technologies.
- Lead planning activities for all types of projects to ensure acoustics, mechanics, and packaging engineering support is delivered when needed.
- Lead efforts to improve Trane Technologies Commercial HVAC packaging in order to reduce quality defects related to shipping and product handling.
- Support continuous improvement in the areas of employee engagement and engineering processes.
- Technical mentorship of your direct reports and others in the areas of acoustics, mechanics and packaging.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Applied Mechanics, or Mechanical Engineering. Master's degree preferred.
- 10+ years of relevant work experience is required.
- Strong experience in Applied Mechanics simulation methods is preferred.
- Previous experience in structural dynamic, acoustics, vibration, structural and fluid mechanics, packaging design and/or digital signal processing is preferred.
- Experience with HVAC products and designs is preferred.
- Ability to travel up to 10% of your time.

- Ability to establish a long-term strategy and short-term priorities for your team that supports the culture and mission of Trane Technologies.
- Strong team player with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to lead projects and manage conflicting priorities.
- Knowledge in simulation and testing tools such as ANSYS, ACTRAN, Wave6, Siemens SimCenter, HYPERWORKS, and MSC Suite, is a plus.
- Understanding of structural and acoustic data acquisition is considered a plus.
- Can mentor and demonstrates advanced understanding in at least one of the following areas: structural dynamics, acoustics, vibration, structural and fluid mechanics or packaging design.
- Ability to solve complex and ambiguous problems.
