Job Summary:


Amentum is currently seeking an Application Engineer II to support an IT Managed Services program in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The overall program includes a 500+ work force performing Enterprise IT support, Service Desk, and Telecommunications support across multiple facilities and locations, for classified and unclassified telecommunications and information technology (IT) systems.



You will be a part of a team developing and maintaining a big picture, end-to-end view of operational IT services. IT Service Management tools are blended with best-practice ITIL processes to lead improvements in IT Service Management. The portfolio includes automated discovery, performance and availability monitoring, enterprise and mission testing, a central tool suite with a service asset repository that supports all ITSM processes, including mature service catalog, request fulfillment, incident management, knowledge management, problem management, change management, service asset and configuration management, enterprise logging, and event management practices.

As a member of the team, you will:

  • Analyze and study complex requirements.
  • Design software tools and subsystems to support software reuse and domain analyses and manage their implementation.

  • Manage software development and supporting using formal specifications, data flow diagrams, other accepted design techniques and Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tools.
  • Estimate software development costs and schedule.
  • Review existing programs and assist in making refinements, reducing operating time, and improving current techniques.

  • Supervise software configuration management.
  • Translate detailed design into application systems.

  • Test, debug, and refine applications to produce the required product.

  • Prepare required documentation, including both program-level and user-level documentation.

  • Enhance applications to improve performance and add functionality.

  • Provide technical direction to engineers to ensure program deadlines are met.

Minimum Requirements:
  • U.S. Citizenship required; must not possess dual citizenship with any other country other than the United States.

  • Must have a Bachelor’s Degree and 1 year experience OR an Associates Degree and 5 years of experience OR High School Diploma / GED and 9 years of experience.

  • Must be able to obtain a TOP SECRET (TS) or DOE Q clearance and maintain it for the life of the contract.

  • Solid foundation in the software development lifecycle, computing systems environments and development methodologies.

  • Major or minor degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Computer Programming Technology or related information management technology discipline (Firm foundation in fundamentals of computing system environments, development methodology) or equivalent experience.

  • Experience in software development and scripting. (JavaScript, Java, C++, SQL, etc.).

  • Ability to work closely with an experienced team.

  • Ability to interact with customers and determine requirements.
  • Knowledge of Windows and/or Linux server class operating systems.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience with operations management in a BMC Remedy system environment, including COTS software installation, configuration, and patching /upgrading.

  • Demonstrated experience with an ITIL/ITSM program to include several of the following areas: Incident Management, Event Management, Change Enablement, Problem Management, Knowledge Management, CMDB, Discovery, Request Fulfillment.

  • ITIL Certification.

  • Ability to work cross-functionally to solve problems and implement changes.

  • Knowledge of configuration management practices.

  • COTS administration and development experience.

  • Experience working in a customer facing environment dealing with customer requests and a prioritized work queue.

  • Familiarity with Agile management tools, such as Rally, Microsoft Project, Jira (etc).

  • Certified Scrum Master.

  • Familiar with Service Modeling/Mapping within an ITSM environment.
