Our enterprise solutions teams work directly with entrepreneurs and brands like these to help them develop and drive their commerce strategies.

As a lead for the Shopify Demo Engineering team, you will work closely with Sales, Product, Engineering and prospective enterprise brands to provide critical support in the closure of new business. Demo Engineers develop strategic tools and conceptual solutions that are designed to wow merchants, thus accelerating their realization of what's possible with Shopify. You will be in charge of owning your team's development, growth and performance. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of the enterprise commerce ecosystem, tenured experience collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders, and proven leadership experience managing direct reports' personal growth while driving impact to the business.

Your responsibilities:

• Lead a team building and owning applications illustrating the power of the Shopify platform


• Monitor and report on team performance to senior leadership on a regular basis including, but not limited to development and project based work


• Triage and assign custom demo application build requests for strategic merchant sales engagements


• Co-design and develop with the team to build custom storefront prototypes on the Shopify platform


• Uncover opportunities to develop automated demo tools that improve efficiency for the sales team in merchant engagements


• Create strong, cross-functional working relationships with global sales and solutions teams to engage, partner and execute within those respective regions


• Develop, coach and mentor the team to enable them to excel and grow within their roles


• Communicate feedback to Product teams to help influence the roadmap of the most adopted commerce solution on the planet


• Identify areas of improvement and make recommendations based on data, analytics and best practices

Qualifications

You'll need to have:

• Proven team leadership skills from prior experience


• Hands-on experience with front end website development (HTML, JavaScript, CSS, Ruby on Rails, React, Remix, Next.js or other JS frameworks)


• Solid technical aptitude - Quick to develop a deep understanding of new software and emerging technologies


• Passion for people leadership and proven experience leading/hiring/building world-class teams


• Strong organizational and project management skills to support a range of build requests with the keen ability to multitask and re-prioritize on an ongoing basis


• Exemplary verbal, presentation and written communication skills


• Desire to work and thrive in a rapidly changing environment

It'd be great if you have experience in these areas:

• Building, launching and maintaining Shopify stores, as well as general knowledge of the admin system


• Shopify's Themes and Liquid templating


• Shopify Hydrogen and/or Storefront API


• Shopify Rust (for Shopify Functions)


• Shopify's object/properties, AJAX API and Metafields


• Shopify's GraphQL admin and REST APIs


• Working with 3rd party services and APIs, specifical plugins for Shopify


• Using code hosting and version control platforms such as Github


• Designing frontend mockups and wireframes using technologies such as Adobe DesignSuite or Figma
