Overview:

Mount Nittany Health System is seeking an innovative and enthusiastic leader to serve as the Executive Director of the Mount Nittany Health Foundation. Reporting directly to the CEO and engaging the Foundation Board of Directors, the position will be responsible for championing the Health System’s mission, vision and strategy with community stakeholders and for developing a comprehensive fund development strategy to support the system’s success.

 


This is an extraordinary opportunity to join a high-performing senior leadership team in a thriving and evolving healthcare organization. The Executive Director will chart the organization’s course in strategic fund development, recommending short- and long-range programs and plans that align with Mount Nittany Health’s overall strategic plan. The program will include major and planned gift development, a deferred giving program, prospect donor cultivation, stewardship and recognition, development of a high-performing team, and marketing and communication initiatives to increase the Foundation and Health System’s recognition. The Executive Director will be responsible to align the Foundation’s goals with Health System’s strategic initiatives and will also manage a high-profile donor portfolio. He/she will partner with the CEO and Foundation Board to build and cultivate the support from the Health System’s patients and families, employees, and its broader community of individuals, foundations, and businesses.

 


The successful candidate is an articulate, positive, accomplished leader who has significant experience leading through influence and passion. He/she must have experience developing and implementing a successful campaign, with a proven track record of soliciting and closing six-figure gifts or larger; deep familiarity and demonstrated success with best practices in identifying new donors, motivating donors to increase their impact on the organization, engaging and stewarding donors, and leveraging marketing and communications strategies to expand donor base including written communications and public speaking. As a member of the Health System’s leadership team, this leader must exhibit a passion for the organization’s mission and being an integral part of the team, sensitive to represent the Health System to the community. He/she must be a transparent, collaborative, and approachable leader who is able to translate his/her vision to motivate and inspire success and teamwork within the Foundation team. The candidate must be a highly effective leader who is comfortable directing, working with and soliciting individuals, foundations, corporations, and other funders for major gifts.

Qualifications:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

 

Education:

 

1) Bachelor’s Degree in Health Administration, Business, Finance or other relevant field.
2) Master’s degree preferred.

 

Experience:

 

1) Five to seven years progressively responsible management experience in fundraising, special event management, planned giving and philanthropy, preferably in a hospital/health system setting.
2) Three to five years supervisory experience of professional level staff
3) Experience in public speaking and presenting.
4) Prior experience with Raiser’s Edge (or similar software).

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

 

1) Skills in writing publications and solicitations
2) Proficiency in using Microsoft Office products
3) Proficiency in fundraising software, Raiser’s Edge preferred
4) Strong organizational and time management skills
5) Able to demonstrate results in managing people and tasks in a complex work environment

 

License/Certification/Registration:

 

1) Valid Driver’s license.
2) Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) certification preferred.

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

 

Receives supervision and guidance from the President and CEO, as needed.

 

SUPERVISION GIVEN

 

Supervises the activities of the Foundation Staff, volunteers and committee members.
