About the team

StreetEasy, New York's leading real estate marketplace and Zillow Group brand, is looking for a proactive and motivated Strategic Communications Manager.

This person will be responsible for developing and implementing communications plans and media-facing campaigns that drive awareness and affinity for StreetEasy and help achieve business goals. This role will partner closely with other communications and business functions including Marketing, Economic Research, Employee Communications, Government Relations, sales and product. Their focus will be on external storytelling around StreetEasy's data and research and consumer-facing products and services to help drive brand-building media coverage.

About the role

  • Play an integral role on the Communications team, working cross-functionally to bring company initiatives, products, housing market research and experts to life - identifying opportunities to tell consumer and business-focused stories across earned and owned media channels.
  • Nurture positive relationships with local and national reporters across real estate, tech, business, consumer and lifestyle outlets
  • Handle inbound press and speaking requests, prep company spokespeople including StreetEasy's Economist and other experts, and regularly staff media interviews
  • Identify story opportunities and brand advocates suitable for media.
  • Build messaging and press materials including pitches, press releases, interview backgrounders, fact sheets, bios, etc.
  • Constantly follow the news and keep the team advised of the latest industry trends, competitors and news-jacking opportunities
  • Track and amplify team results, media coverage and business impact with internal and external audiences
  • Maintain team resources including StreetEasy's media room, media lists, Data Dashboard and more
  • Build a deep understanding of StreetEasy business and products to inform our storytelling
  • Crisis Communications experience a plus
This role has been categorized as a Remote position. "Remote" employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice which must be identified to the Company. Employees may live in any of the 50 US States, with limited exceptions. In certain cases, an employee in a remote-designated job may need to live in a specific region or time zone to support customers or clients as part of their role.In Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada and New York City the standard base pay range for this role is $103,200.00 - $164,800.00 Annually. This base pay range is specific to Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada and New York City and may not be applicable to other locations.In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location.

Who you are

  • 6+ years of experience in Communications, including deep media relations experience
  • Proven track record representing brands externally, liaising with reporters and securing impactful media coverage that connects to business goals and key messages
  • Strong collaborator and ability to establish rapport, credibility and trust with cross-functional partners and leaders across the business
  • A growth-minded and proactive self-starter who is constantly looking for ways to innovate, experiment and learn
  • A flexible and nimble communicator who can thrive in a fast-paced, agile environment and anticipate future opportunities
  • Results-driven and highly adept at communicating up, down and across the company
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and deliver high-quality work against tight timelines
  • Interest in data analysis and ability to come to the table with data-driven ideas and story angles that build StreetEasy brand awareness and affinity
  • Ability to keep a finger on the pulse of the constantly evolving media landscape and emerging new media relations tactics, contacts and outlets
  • Strong executive presence
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills (writing exercise required)
  • While not required to work in an office, given the local nature of the StreetEasy brand, candidates must be based in the Tri-State area
