The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. HJF's support and administrative capabilities allow military medical researchers and clinicians to maintain their scientific focus and accomplish their research goals.



The position will be in support of the Uniformed Services University, Department of Family Medicine, supporting a trial looking at reducing the discomfort associated with Intrauterine Device (IUD) insertion. In this trial, we will be providing patients with a topical anesthetic that they will apply via a tampon for an hour prior to the appointment time. This is a one year position with the possibility of extension.


Responsibilities:


HJF is seeking a part time (20 hours per week) Clinical Research Coordinator I to perform clinical research and patient treatment in conjunction with one or more specified clinical research protocols. Developing adherence to legal, professional and ethical codes with respect to confidentiality and privacy. Helps assure that protocol requirements are achieved within Good Clinical Practices. This is the first of four levels, and the entry level position for the Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) series.



Responsibilities


  • Reviews patient contacts from providers or patients themselves and screens patients for eligibility in participation of research protocol. Interviews patients for protocols and collects and analyzes appropriate data for recruitment purposes, determine patient commitment and obtains informed consent. Educates patients about the research protocol, their roles in the protocols, and any other vital information.

  • Collects, organizes, transcribes, and maintains appropriate files of current data. Maintains weekly/monthly status reports on project status.

  • Coordinates planning, organization and assembly of patient study materials, including medications and forms.

  • Acts as a liaison between patients and providers and serves as a resource for both.

  • Adheres to legal, professional and ethical codes with respect to confidentiality and privacy. Assures that protocol requirements are achieved within Good Clinical Practices.

  • Schedules patients to pick up study materials prior to their procedure appointment.

  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of federal and local regulations and policies pertinent to research involving human subjects.

  • Excellent interpersonal and computer skills.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and to work with individuals of all levels.


Physical Capabilities


  • Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods.

Education and Experience


  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Minimum of 0-2 years experience required
