POSITION SUMMARY

The Solution Architect role has four main responsibilities: design and document solutions for technology and application implementations, manage the IT tech review process, drive projects as a technical project leader, and assist IT leadership in strategic roadmaps.

Each member of the Solution Architecture will also have a core focus. This role will focus on development technologies. Knowledge of modern programming languages is required. Experience with the Microsoft Power Platform and M365 environment is a preferred. Knowledge of Automation/RPA technologies, such as UIPath, is a plus. Experience working closely with business partners to design solutions to improve their processes. This role will work closely with the agile team and our business partners to design solutions and automations. They will also play a key role in growing our citizen development community.

The Solution Architect works closely with IT and operational leaders to develop solutions, roadmaps, and strategies supporting data, security, applications, and core technology.

The Solution architect will partner with IT and the business to solve complex problems. The architectural designs will address business impact, application integration, data integration & migration, security, networking, deployment, and user access across the IDN s technology & application portfolio.

The Solution Architect provides the leadership, facilitation, analysis, and design tasks required for the development of the organizations core technology, security, application, and data architecture. They will be expected to be a technical leader in projects and present / translate complex issues and solutions to executives. Strong communication skills are a must.

The solution architect creates deliverables that help develop target-state guidance (reusable standards, guidelines, individual parts, platforms, and configurations) for evolving the technical capabilities across the IDN, in order to enable business strategy and deliver targeted business outcomes. He/she facilitates and orchestrates the delivery of targeted business outcomes through facilitating and making technical decisions.

This position is a remote role with the requirement of coming onsite as needed.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Facilitates the research, evaluation, and selection of hardware and software technology and product standards, as well as the design of standard configurations.
  • Creates reference architectures focused on detailed design principles, decision points, detailed APIs, major systems and dependencies between business and IT.
  • Monitors the current-state solution portfolio to identify deficiencies through aging of the technologies and advocates for the standardization of the IT solution portfolio.
  • Understands business drivers and business capabilities (future and current state) and determines corresponding enterprise system designs and change requirements to drive the organization's targeted business outcomes.
  • Work with multiple cross-functional agile/product teams to architect a cohesive solution that meets the needs of the customer and contributes to the overall business strategy.
  • Builds complex, enterprise-level architecture solutions that span architecture domains (e.g., application, data, core technology, and security)
  • Leads POC (proof of concepts) activities and drafts whitepapers to inform key technology decisions and strategies.
  • Oversees and facilitates the research, evaluation, and selection of hardware and software technology and product standards, as well as the design of standard configurations.
  • Ensure all Non-Functional Requirements (e.g., performance, availability and fail-over, scalability, security, etc.) are properly articulated, and work with all parties to guarantee that the software products that are delivered meet these objectives
  • Translates solution architectures and technical concepts into presentations and proposals for a non-technical audience.
  • Provides deliverables like standard definitions, reference models and architecture designs to help the organization assess the impact of new and ongoing technology investment.
Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelors Degree

Work Experience:

  • 5+ years experience in at least one IT solution development disciplines, core technology, cybersecurity, network management, application development, middleware, database management or cloud development.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Understanding and knowledge of system development life cycle methodologies (such as waterfall, agile software development, rapid prototyping, and DevOps)
  • Familiarity with application development methodologies and experience working in an agile/scrum environment.
  • Ability to decompose and solve ambiguous problems through proven design skills, sharp analytical abilities, and an ability to influence/utilize technical teams to execute on those ideas
  • Ability to quickly comprehend the functions and capabilities of existing, new, and emerging technologies that enable and drive new business designs and models
  • Proven experience creating scalable solutions that exceeded customer expectations and helped create market differentiation.
  • Solid understanding of product management, agile principles and development methodologies and capability of supporting agile teams by providing advice and guidance on opportunities, impact, and risks, taking account of technical and architectural debt.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Masters degree preferred.

Certification:

  • TOGAF, SAFe or similar relevant advanced level certification

Work Experience:

  • 7+ years of systems engineering or architectural experience.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Experience working in a similarly complex industry is helpful, but not required
  • Experience with DevOps environments.
  • Cloud architecture and familiarity with Microsoft Azure or AWS.
