Position: Regional Program Manager. Salt Lake City, UT

Program: BHE-IBEW: Stronger Together

Reports To: Director of Strategic Engagement, Center for Energy Workforce Development

Compensation & time commitment: Remote position within regional geography of Salt Lake City, Utah. CANDIDATE MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE IN WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT and with COMMUNITY BASED ORGANIZATIONS in the Salt Lake City AREA. Independent contractor. Requires some evenings and weekends, and travel. Compensation: 60-65K commensurate with experience.

Job Description: The regional program manager is responsible for facilitating and coordinating a robust community engagement strategy for Berkshire Hathaway Energy and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, the BHE-IBEW: Stronger Together program. A program that will increase diversity in the energy industry. Incumbent will build relationships with community-based organization, training and service providers, educational systems, and workforce development entities. The regional program manager will assist in the overall coordination of programming that will promote diversity in the energy industry by bringing awareness of the sector’s skilled trade careers to those from diverse backgrounds and nontraditional or historically marginalized communities.

Major Responsibilities & Duties: The regional program manager works closely with targeted community-based organizations, training and service providers, educational systems, and workforce development to:

  • Cultivate relationships across diverse communities to provide awareness of the many skilled trade positions and careers available. Provide continual education about these opportunities to staff and support community partners as they provide these opportunities to our targeted populations
  • Facilitate regular community meetings to foster relationship building, collaboration, and promotion of the BHE-IBEW: Stronger Together program. This includes strengthening relationships with partners, identifying and addressing improvements to working together to authentically support those from diverse backgrounds and historically marginalized communities including implementation of equitable and best practices and continued communication strategies
  • Provide ongoing input, information, and materials (as requested) that support internal and external communication efforts about programming and opportunities
  • Conduct outreach, orientations and informational events on a continuous basis developing community partners, educational partners and training and service providers
  • Facilitate and participate in targeted events to promote diversity in the energy industry by bringing awareness of the sector’s skilled trade careers
  • Work with other regional program managers to collaborate on best practices
  • Participate in the continuous quality improvement and data-driven decision-making processes to assess the efficacy of programming and to drive programmatic refinements. Ensure adherence to data collection requirements
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications and Experience: Four to six years of directly related experience (workforce development, career development, community organizing, recruiting, etc.) especially with diverse populations. Working knowledge of Spanish is a plus. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted if it directly relates to the essential duties and responsibilities. Preference will be given to candidates with a working knowledge of community-based organizations, workforce development systems and knowledge of the skilled trades. A strong desire for supporting and empowering those from diverse backgrounds and nontraditional, or historically marginalized communities is required.

  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems and manage conflict
  • Ability to think and plan strategically


  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Familiarity and willingness to utilize social media
