HDR is growing in its Transit Engineering Department and is looking to bring on an Assistant Project Manager.


Primary Responsibilities


Your primary duties will be to help manage and direct the transit engineering-based work and projects. The successful candidate will have the overall responsibility for assisting Project Managers with the project planning, staffing composition, team management, financial and schedule performance and controls, client liaison, contract management, internal management reporting, internal HDR project processes and project contractual deliverables. You will help lead and guide the work of these projects. As Asst. Project Manager you will ensure that project milestones/goals are being met and with adherence to the approved budgets and ensure that internal corporate HDR Project Management and Quality Management processes are adhered to for all projects. You will work with the Project Managers to advise on staffing needs and recommend new hires to support team s growth. You will also provide support to HDR s business development and marketing efforts to win new work and expand the team qualifications. Work will include the update of projects status using internal HDR project systems to document the management, financial and status reviews to senior management. Work will be required to liaise with other HDR managers and subject matter experts for technical staffing and their availability to work on assignment and projects.


The existing Transit Engineering project management team is engaged on and manages multi-discipline projects requiring services that encompass condition assessments / audits, studies, conceptual and functional design, preliminary and detailed design, procurement, and construction support. Projects to be managed are focused on planning, engineering and construction support services for transit rail, traction power systems, rolling stock, transit stations, transit facilities (i.e.. shops, garages, administration, etc.).


Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from a recognized university
  • The candidate must have 5 years experience in project management and in the coordination of multi-disciplinary transit engineering-based design and construction projects
  • Technical experience in transit engineering-based disciplines
  • Experience in cost control and scheduling is preferred
  • Experience in a Transit Engineering and facilities-based projects
  • Experience with MS Office Suite, especially Excel; AutoCAD and scheduling software expertise required
  • This person must be able to perform with minimal oversight
  • The ability to travel is preferred
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
