Position Summary

Itron is looking for an experienced Legal Project Manager who will lead and manage the legal project management process for our Legal Team. This position is responsible for managing internal client expectations during the project life cycle by effectively planning, executing, and finalizing projects according to deadlines and within budget. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of cross-functional team members to deliver projects according to plan. The Legal Project Manager will also define the projects objectives and oversee quality control throughout the project life cycle.

Essential Functions:

  • Establish project scope and objectives.
  • Create detailed project plans and manage projects from start to finish, including communicating with team members and stakeholders throughout the duration of the project.
  • Manage and track resource allocations, tasks, project schedules, budget, and costs.
  • Provide regularly scheduled project updates to internal clients and other stakeholders.
  • Report and escalate issues to senior managers as needed.
  • Successfully manage relationships with internal clients and stakeholders.
  • Stay informed of project progress, perform risk analysis, and identify and minimize potential risks.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.
  • Ensure project deadlines are met; resolve scheduling issues, dependencies, and track project progress to ensure timeliness, effectiveness, and internal client satisfaction.
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Develop project management tools, templates, checklists, and forms.
  • Train legal teams and clients on the implementation and fundamentals of Legal Project Management.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned.

Specific Skills Required:

  • Computer proficient with advanced skills in MS Office required.
  • Capacity to learn new technology, tools, and platforms.
  • Aptitude to make difficult and complex independent decisions.
  • Excellent organizational, oral, and written communication skills, including record keeping, data collection, and system information. Ability to compile and analyze data, and furnish concise, detailed information in written report format.
  • Excellent facilitation skills to lead meetings, conduct effective briefings and presentations, and to develop consensus, both internally and externally.
  • Strong ability to lead; think creatively; pro-actively adapt to a changing environment; act decisively; and motivate, develop, inspire, and empower others.
  • Ability to plan, organize, direct, implement, and evaluate processes to lead people and manage resources to achieve desired results.
  • Aptitude to create an open environment conducive to freely sharing information and ideas.
  • Capability to use many software programs to provide professional documents and prepare presentation media to audiences.
  • SharePoint, Visio, and MS Project knowledge preferred.

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Experience in a similar role at either a professional services company or in a legal environment.
  • Minimum three years of formal project management experience preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum five years law firm, in-house legal, or legal operations experience required.
  • PMP, JD or MBA preferred.
  • Understanding of project estimation and management approaches, tools, and phases of the project lifecycle.
