We are hiring a Registered Nurse Manager I for one of our clients in Trenton, NJ.

Job Description:

Duties/Responsibilities: In accordance with the Patient Safety Act (PL 2004), the associated regulations NJAC 8:43E-10, and the Department policies and protocols pursuant to the New Jersey Patient Safety Program, this person must utilize their clinical health care experience to perform at least, but not limited to, the following:

Quality Analysis:

  • Review Root Cause Analyses (RCAs) of adverse events submitted by licensed New Jersey health care facilities to support facilities and promote a culture of patient safety. For each RCA, the Clinical Reviewer will conduct a detailed review and assessment of the report, and follow-up with the facility as necessary. The RCAs are reviewed to ensure that the facility:
  • performed a thorough and credible RCA; and identified prevention strategies which adequately addressed the root causes of the adverse event.
  • Clinically review adverse events submitted by licensed New Jersey health care facilities to ensure they meet the statutory definition of a serious preventable adverse event.
  • Develop and implement methods to promote Internal Consistency in the event and RCA Reviews, including validation of data elements in the Patient Safety database.
  • Develop tools and resources to facilitate the educational process and supportive activities for the RCA Workshops and conduct of other educational activities.

Report Generation:

  • Perform administrative duties as needed, including the ongoing maintenance, and upgrades as necessary, of the Patient Safety web based reporting system.
  • Prepare reports such as the Patient Safety Report System Annual Summary, including staffing or other action recommendations.

Skills required:

  • Possess an active New Jersey license in one of the following health care fields: RN, APRN, MD, DO.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of direct patient care in a hospital setting.
  • Prior experience with root cause analysis of adverse events and other Quality Improvement activities in a health care setting.
  • Knowledge of hospital, ambulatory surgery center, and dialysis facility systems, processes, policies and procedures.
  • Familiarity with state and national best practices in patient safety.
  • Familiarity with state and federal regulations for health care facilities.
  • Fluent in Microsoft Office or similar software programs for word processing.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Experience required:

  • Five (5) years of clinical work experience as a Registered Nurse or health care professional listed above, one (1) year of which is specialized experience including the monitoring and/or evaluation of clinical or human services records and programs in a mental health, geriatric, health care setting, or human services agency.

Education required:

  • Graduation from a post-secondary program in an appropriate health care field such as nursing or medical school.

Mandatory skills/certification(s) Requirement:

  • PROFESSIONAL LICENSE: An active New Jersey license in one of the following health care fields: RN, APRN, MD, DO.

Computer software to be used:

  • Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe

Work hours:

  • 8am-4pm
  • Lunch Duration: 1 hour unpaid
