Job Title: Principal Solution Architect


Location: REI; City: Sumner; State: Washington. Eligible to telecommute within normal commuting distance of Seattle, WA. Remote considered.


Job Description: Accountable for the conceptual architecture at capability portfolio level, ensuring the architecture quality, performance, security, availability, and flexibility of the solutions and ensuring business performance targets are achieved. This is a senior individual contributor role with accountability for the coalescence of supporting solution architectures developed in collaboration with other architects. Create models describing current and future state capabilities and technologies and support decision-making concerning which products to procure. As part of the IT architecture community, advocate for our architectural principles, policies and guidelines. Create and maintain reference models, actively participate in our architecture review process and engage in design reviews. Model and act in accordance with our principles and REI’s guiding values and mission. Eligible to telecommute within normal commuting distance of Seattle, WA. Remote considered.

Job Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field, or the foreign degree equivalent; and 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience designing and implementing Sterling Order Management System through the entire project lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, implementation, testing, performance engineering, and support. This experience must include 5 years of experience with each of the following: contributing to proof of concept and providing optimal design solutions to meet requirements in Sterling; coaching and mentoring and/or managing solution architects or developers; working on the Sterling OMS platform including COM, SOM AND DOM modules, Sterling API, configuration and related interfaces; and utilizing Java, JEE, JSP, Eclipse, XML, XML parsers, XSD and JMS technologies; object-oriented design; web services; and service-oriented architectures. Experience may be gained concurrently.
