The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Mid-Level Software Engineer - SDK Development (Virtual) to join the Boeing Enterprise Software Products and Capabilities (ESPC) group/team located in Hazelwood, MO. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization.

These systems must meet the highest levels of safety standards, levels of rigor and design assurances required by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Department of Defense (DOD) and National Security Agency (NSA) certification authorities as they are deployed on latest Commercial aircraft, Defense platforms and weapons systems, including un-piloted and autonomous vehicles of the future.

The ideal candidate for this role is experienced at low level infrastructure for safety and security critical application, using rigorous design practices, efficient and automated processes and tools, to delivery on-time, high quality, safety assured and cyber assured software.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with stakeholders to elicit requirements and iterate on development kit features that reduce development cycle time.
  • Collaborates with infrastructure software engineers to define interfaces and designs for the interfaces between the software development kit applications and infrastructure software.
  • Designs, documents, and develops Software Development Kit (SDK) applications with a focus on usability, reusability, and maintainability.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert for the Software Development Kit (SDK), supporting end users as needed.
  • Creates and organizes a well-defined, estimated and prioritized set of initiatives, epics and stories to maintain a robust backlog for time-phasing and planning.
  • Participates in daily scrums, using agile practices, to communicate clearly and openly on incremental progress and to inform the team of any help needed on impediments and roadblocks and suggest timely remedies for common ailments during retrospections.

This position requires the ability to obtain a Secret US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. Ability to obtain Secret US Security clearance Post-Start.

Required Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
  • 5+ years of experience programming in Java
  • 5+ years of experience developing desktop applications
  • 2+ years of experience developing software using Git for source control configuration management

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 2+ years of experience developing Java applications using the JavaFX framework
  • 2+ years of experience programming in C, C++, C#, and Python
  • 2+ years of experience developing code generators driven by data models
  • 2+ years of experience developing applications that use a DDS (Data Distribution Service) middleware.
  • 2+ years of experience with the DoD open standards such as FACE (future airborne capability environment) and OMS (open mission systems)
  • 2+ years of experience developing software build environments utilizing cmake or Bazel
  • 2+ years of experience developing DevOps automation, continuous integration, and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines utilizing Jenkins or GitLab-CI
  • 2+ years of experience developing software as a certified Scaled Agile Framework for Enterprise (SAFe) professional
  • 2+ years of experience developing software using the Atlassian agile lifecycle management (ALM) tools suite, including Jira and Confluence

Typical Education/Experience:

  • Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience)
  • In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard

Travel:

Some travel, project planning meetings, technical discussions may be required, up to 10%

Summary pay range: $96,900.00 - $151,800.00
