Job Description



We’ve recently announced one of our largest investments to date in modernizing our infrastructure and application portfolio by migrating to the cloud, in partnership with our primary cloud provider, Microsoft Azure. We are improving the speed at which we bring innovation to our customers, and cloud computing both expedites that time-to-market and provides a new level of security for our customers’ most important data. To assist in this technology transformation and develop new tools and ways of working into the future, we have an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled technologist to join U.S. Bank as a Principal Engineer for Solution Architecture and develop cutting-edge cloud migration solutions for the data engineering organization.



In this role, you will be part of data engineering leadership and will be responsible for working with teams across the company for successful end-to-end solution design and alignment for both online and offline data within US Bank. To be successful in this role, you should be a hands-on data and technical expert with extensive knowledge of data architecture and technology and demonstrate past success working with other technical stakeholders to understand business use cases and current implementation, and establish enterprise data solutions to fit an petabyte-scale data ecosystem.



You will be the go-to person to work with teams within U.S. Bank to design end-to-end solutions in line with U.S. Bank’s enterprise data strategy and architecture. This role will provide technical thought leadership to formulate and implement a cohesive enterprise data solution for US Bank that enable various business to successfully onboard U.S. Bank data ecosystem. This role will partner with business, enterprise architect, and data engineering teams very closely.

Requirements:




  • Experience in software engineering and Solution Architecture including Design, Development and Deployment


  • A broad set of technical skills and knowledge across hardware, software, systems and solutions development in the data domain


  • Demonstrated experience delivering business success by designing and architecting (on your own or with a team) enterprise data solutions, including both real-time and big data


  • Strong communication skills including representing your company in industry standards organizations or industry technical forums or events in Cloud Security


  • Strong technical team leadership, mentorship, and collaboration.


  • Ability to develop technical relationships with business teams and technical teams




Qualifications:




  • Demonstrated technology experience and knowledge within the data ecosystem including both online and offline data


  • Past success in leveraging open-source technology to implement successful business critical data solutions


  • Insightful background and experience in distributed systems and cloud concepts (Kubernetes)


  • Insightful background and experience about various modern big data technologies including but not limited to Spark, Hadoop, Kafka, Cassandra, Presto, Druid etc.


  • Strong background in modern frontend technology e.g., REACT, node.js, AngularJS etc.


  • Strong background in databases and data storage technologies including Relational databases, NoSQL databases, columnar databases, key/value stores, etc.


  • Demonstrated working experience in security protocol, encryption, data privacy/compliance etc.


  • Familiarity with open-source software development and community


  • Familiarity with AI/ML model development for process of model deployment


  • Strong understanding of visualization tools e.g., Tableau, Superset, Power BI etc.


  • Proven experience in programming language and operating system e.g., Unix/Linux


  • Clear communication skills, both written and verbal, comfortable with both presenting deeply technical subjects, as well as technical writing and publishing


  • Proven experience in public speaking at developer events and conferences


  • At least Master’s in computer science from accredited university and Ph.D. preferred

Salary range reflected is an estimate of base pay and is for the primary location. Base pay range may vary if an offer is made for work in a different location. Pay Range: $175,950.00 - $207,000.00 - $227,700.00
