JOB SUMMARY

Our state of the art investment casting facility in LaPorte, Indiana is seeking a Quality Systems Engineer to join our team. Nestled halfway between South Bend and Chicago, our facility in LaPorte, Indiana supplies jet engine components to some of the most trusted names in the Aerospace industry. This position designed to concentrate on Quality Systems. Guide and assist in the development and deployment of the Howmet/HLC Quality System. Provide leadership and training on Quality Systems issues. Provide direct quality systems support to engineering, manufacturing and other personnel within the HLC quality organization
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Prioritize, guide and facilitate the activities of the internal audit function and the corrective/preventative action systems to meet the quality system requirements and the organizational goals, initiatives and requirements
  • Ensure the quality standards, company policies and procedures, customer requirements and safety standards are embodied within the quality system.
  • Monitor the implementation of the quality system to ensure the flowdown of industry, customer and internal standards
  • Coordinate all audits and reviews conducted by external agencies (i.e. ISO, Nadcap) , customers and Howmet peer groups
  • Support supplier quality requirements including SNCRs, SDARs and purchase order review.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Job responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Support an active training environment
  • Work with engineering and manufacturing to develop and implement relevant quality criteria, practices and procedures
  • Coordinate and actively participate in ISO and AS99100 audits
  • Coordinate and actively participate in Howmet peer audits
  • Coordinate and actively participate in Nadcap audits
  • Coordinate and actively participate in customer audits
  • Coordinate, participate and oversee all internal process and product audits
  • Administer the corrective and preventative actions systems
  • Administer the supplier SDAR process
  • Perform quality review of supplier purchase orders
  • Primary point of contact for all customer inquiries relative to the HLC quality systems
  • Performs other work related duties as assigned

JOB SPECIFICIATIONS

Education :

Bachelor of Science Degree or equivalent. Certification from the American Society for Quality (such as CQA or CQE) preferred
Skills and Abilities:
Extensive knowledge of the ISO, AS9100 and Nadcap requirements, strong coaching and training skills, working knowledge of the investment casting processes, ability to multi-task, strong written and oral communication skills, fluent with MS Office applications, proficient with problem solving and root cause analysis
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years experience in quality or engineering

  • Occasional bending, reaching, pushing and pulling when retrieving and moving various items

  • Position may require more than eight hours daily and more than five days weekly to complete work assignment
