We are looking for a talented, energetic Engineer for our location in Pickens, South Carolina.
This is a great opportunity to work for an innovative firm, designing and building customized structural products throughout the United States.
Job Summary
This position will directly manage project designs through submittal, providing relevant calculations, and offering support to the field installation team. The candidate should come prepared with an understanding of applicable design code, geotechnical information, project specifications, and blueprints. This position will oversee and provide reports on progress and issues that arise during the project lifecycle under the supervision of a senior-level engineer/manager.
Essential Functions of the Job
General duties include but are not limited to the following:
Manage Project Workflow
Use given bridge loadings and site information to provide best-practice superstructure and foundation designs
Apply proper standards and specifications such as AASHTO, ACI, AISC, ASCE, DOT, ADM,
IBC, and any other structural codes as needed
Maintain engineering standards, policies, best practices, and procedures at all times
Provide direct day to day support and oversight of project elements, with a specific interest in field work and the construction team
Serve as a liaison between engineering and construction personnel
Develop project schedules and deliverable timelines under the supervising engineer
Gathering data for permit applications, submitting documentation to officials and making sure that change orders are logged and submitted to personnel throughout the construction process.
Day to day duties can vary depending on the project needs
Prepare project reports
Prepare calculations packages, review submittal and shop drawings for release to the customer
Communicate with contractors, owners, regulatory agencies, and other engineering firms to ensure all project specifications are met
Prepare progress reports and present them to engineers and other personnel
Compare project schedules and budgets to expectations and report on any potential delays or issues arising during construction
Coordinate Team Members
Work closely with contractors, technicians, and other engineers ensuring all team members understand their specific duties and expectations providing senior management if there are any issues with the team
Work closely with the drafting team to ensure all relevant design details are included in project submittal drawings and fabrication sheets
Competencies
Prior experience in structural design is a must. Experience in the bridge industry, applying AASHTO standards is a plus. Experience with structural foundation design is a plus
Ability to work independently and learn quickly
Drafting knowledge; ability to understand site and fabrication drawings
Work Environment
Inside office mostly with shop visitation in noisy areas. Job site visits occasional.
Physical Demands
Requires the use of both hands.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position in a fast-paced environment. You can expect to work 40 to 50 hours per week. Off-hour communication required to keep a project on schedule

Required Education and Experience
Bachelors degree, or equivalent school/work experience, in Civil Engineering or related
3+ year(s) of experience in Structural Design
Project management
Problem-solving skills
Team coordination
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat software
G-suite software to include Docs, Sheets, Gmail, Drive, Keep, etc.
Work Authorization/Security Clearance (if applicable)
Able to sufficiently provide documentation to legally work in the U.S.
Able to satisfactorily complete a background check, drug test, and reference check.
