Scope of Responsibility:


Sabre Industries is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team as an Energy Storage Systems Design Engineer. This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic and rapidly growing industry utilizing a diverse range of disciplines. Design aspects include High Voltage DC, Auxiliary AC Power, Control Systems, PLC Programming, Fire Suppression & Safety Systems Design. Work with a multidisciplinary project team engaged in product development from conceptual design through manufacturing support and operational verification. Background and/or highly interested in battery energy storage systems, solar grid tie systems, micro grids, smart grid, distributed generation, telecommunications, power substations and/or renewable energy.


Essential Duties:


  • Collaborate with engineering team, sales team, and customers to develop unique design solutions.
  • Provide technical review of project specifications to support sales and quoting team.
  • Review codes and standards to develop detailed performance specifications and prescriptive implementation and testing requirements for compliance.
  • Develop and prepare technical drawings and specifications for power and special systems.
  • Utilize AutoCAD software for drawing and design development.
  • Perform detailed calculations to verify design compliance with applicable standards, codes, and specifications.
  • Support manufacturing, equipment installation and quality testing to ensure conformity with specifications, codes, and customer requirements.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining product support documentation including installation instructions, operation and maintenance manuals, trouble-shooting guides, and training manuals.
  • Provide technical support as electrical SME to designers, project managers, production personnel, field service technicians and customers.
  • Design, implement, maintain, or improve electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, or systems.
  • Prepare specifications for purchase of materials and equipment for production and testing.
  • Oversee project design efforts to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.

 Position Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, or related field of study
  • Professional Licensure Preferred
  • Minimum EIT and working toward Professional Engineer Licensure
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • 3-5 years of practical Engineering experience.
  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
  • Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions.
  • Must work well in a group, or team environment.

Physical Requirements:


  • The Electrical Engineer will work in a typical office environment and as required work in a production environment, exposed to loud noise, dust particles, and an indoor environment that is not climate controlled. This person will also on occasion be required to travel to project site locations for assessment, installation and troubleshooting and must adhere to all site requirements.
  • The Electrical Engineer must regularly wear personal protective equipment such as steel-toe shoes, safety glasses, hard hats, and ear plugs.
