Major established and brand name manufacturing company at a large site in south suburban Atlanta has an opportunity for a Quality Engineer – Plastics . In this position will provide quality-engineering support in process improvements and daily issues for Injection Molding, SMC Molding, Water Jet Cutting, and Foaming and Bonding. There are major company benefits, 5% bonus potential and 2% profit sharing as well assistance being available for relocation.

Job Responsibilities: Will solve internal customer quality problems from 2 plants and provide systemic and robust solution in a timely manner. Will facilitate the process improvements by engaging the Plastic's cross-functional team members. Will create, assess and implement the process control requirements based upon ISO and the company’s Plastic Appearance Standards. Will be involved with development and maintenance of APQP/PPAP and Process Documentation including: Control Plans, Appearance Standards, Inspection Work Instructions, QAB (Quality Bulletin Board), etc. Will establish, maintain, report and improve quality metrics. Will assist in ISO and company audits and facilitate systemic and robust solutions.

Education / Experience: BS in Engineering or related technical field with 3-5 years of experience, or 8-10 years equivalent experience. 3+ years of experience in a plastics manufacturing environment with strong process knowledge of Injection Molding and or SMC molding or thermoforming.

Other Required Skills: Previous quality/manufacturing engineering experience including APQP, PPAP, root cause analysis, systematic problem solving, PFMEA, etc. Computer skills using MS Office required.

Additional Requirements: Must have excellent quality support and communication skills to all internal customers. Working knowledge of gage and equipment requirements to AIAG standards. Individual must be a self-starter and work with minimal supervision. Demonstrated problem solving and continuous improvement skills. Must have good multi-tasking skills. Desire strong Lean experience. Need to be very Gemba oriented - see, observe, engage, inquisitive to solve to get the best outcome. This is a hands-on role with the equipment on the shop floor. Needed is an individual contributor. Could be currently a quality engineer or a manufacturing engineer or a continuous improvement engineer.
