Sr. E&I Engineer
Position Summary
Our Client has a position available for an experienced Electrical Instrumentation Engineer at our South Louisiana location. This position reports to the Manufacturing Technology Manager and is responsible for providing technical leadership and support for the operation, maintenance and continuous improvement of our Electrical and Instrumentation infrastructure.
Essential Job Functions
¾ Champions and implements improvements in systems capabilities that will increase the ability to meet customer needs and improve business competitiveness, using Six Sigma methodology as applicable.
¾ Works closely with line leadership, technical resources, operators and mechanics to understand the business, site and user needs and priorities.
¾ Provides technical assistance to businesses in support of top line growth, asset effectiveness, improvement programs and major capital projects.
¾ Maintains technical knowledge of process instrumentation equipment (pressure, flow, temperature, control valves, etc.)
¾ Maintains technical knowledge of 2.4 kV and 480V switchgear, protective relays application and testing, 2.4kV and 480V motor control centers and motors, and 120/208 VAC uninterruptible power systems.
¾ Develops predictive and preventative maintenance procedures to insure improved equipment reliability.
¾ Provides trouble shooting support and follow-up on instrumentation and electrical equipment failures, determining root cause and identifying actions to prevent recurrence.
¾ Develops and designs applications of instrumentation and control systems to integrate with the existing distributed control systems.
¾ Evaluates the existing instrumentation and utilizes engineering design processes to improve accuracy, reliability, and calibration records.
¾ Recommends, source, and ensure proper installation of new instruments in a manner that will provide accurate, and reliable process control.
¾ Provides hands on assistance to E&I Technicians with trouble shooting instrumentation problems including system calibrations. Lead and assist, as needed in the training of E&I Technicians.
¾ Assists in developing capital project programs of new equipment and major repairs.
¾ Provides support for our Alarm Management and SIS.
¾ Participates in PHA and LOPAs.
¾ Provides support for ABB DCS and Allen-Bradley PLC.
¾ Utilizes computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
¾ Demonstrates strengths in getting results, meeting commitments and problem-solving.
Position Requirements
¾ BS in Electrical Engineering required
¾ Seven (7) to fifteen (15) years of electrical engineering experience.
¾ At least 5 years industrial plant experience with a fundamental understanding of PSM (Process Safety Management) systems.
¾ Proactive and able to work independently.
¾ Ability to collaborate with others in decision making.
¾ Possesses an understanding of National Electrical Code, with emphasis in hazardous (electrically classified) locations, and Electrical Safety in the Workplace.
¾ Proven success in leading projects and teams.
¾ Strong communications skills, both written & verbal.
¾ Knowledge of SAP, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel required.
¾ Experience working in multinational environment is desirable.
