Our Missile Products Division in Plymouth, MN has an excellent opportunity for a Principal Process Engineer whose duties and required experience are described below.

Responsibilities:
As a Principal Process Engineer in the Fuzing and Warheads Development Group, you will be responsible to ensure that production engineering best practices and systems are defined and followed in the product and process design phase and into manufacturing start-up through rate production. You will work with various disciplines including design, production, quality, safety, functional managers, program managers, and external suppliers to ensure your products are design for production, assembly, manufacture, test and any other key production attributes. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Provide a production perspective during the development process, to make sure production requirements are addressed for our multiple programs and products that are manufactured at our ABL West Virginia location and locations outside of ABL, including key teammates and suppliers.
  • Work with Production Engineering to establish requirements and specifications for special test equipment, manufacturing equipment and tooling, and inspection equipment to be used in production.
  • Maintain a product risk register or integrate in the program risk register production concerns, risks, issues, and risk mitigation activities to ensure a success production startup.
  • Developing and maintaining production pricing cost model (AUPC)
  • Identifying and coordinating tooling and STE in preparation for production scaling (Supporting production preparation/bidding)
  • Reviewing and presenting manufacturing and technology readiness for milestone gates (MRL/TRL)
  • Act as the point of contact between production and design to coordinate, delegate and resolve design related issues that occur during production such as parts obsolescence and material review board (MRB) activities.
  • Oversee department Build Readiness Reviews (BRRs) and Production Readiness Reviews (PRRs)
  • Manage change to ensure that products and process changes will not affect production performance.
  • Complete data reviews and track production metrics to provide feedback and lessons learned on what works and does not work in production.
  • Spearhead and lead charge for DFMA workshops to insure that early in product development manufacturing, key suppliers, test, quality is being included in the product definition.
  • Drive common lines, common processes, common parts where possible across programs to get maximum leverage of synergies.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to internal and external customers
  • Provide support to our Fuzing and Warheads business lane pursuits, including the preparation of white papers and proposals.

Requirements:
  • Must have at least 9 years of experience. Will consider a BS in STEM, preferably Electrical Engineering plus 5 years of experience or a MS in STEM plus at least 3 years of experience.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Ability to multitask and organize/prioritize job assignments and direct reports in a rapidly changing, short turn-around environment.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes to include PWB manufacturing, SMT component placement, and electronics packaging.
  • Strong communication skills, oral and written.
  • Understanding of Six Sigma disciplines, design for assembly / design for manufacturing (DFA/DFM).
  • Possess an understanding of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) or process control
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point, Project).
  • Ability to travel, approximately 2 times per month to production facilities and suppliers.
  • Security regulations require that the individual must be a U.S. citizen and must have the ability to obtain a DoD security clearance to a level of SECRET.
Salary Range: $88,000 USD - $132,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
