To help us achieve our mission, we are hiring a Full Stack Software Engineer to join our team to construct systems, pipelines, and front-end and back-end applications to support Data Science efforts. This person will have the opportunity to join a talented team of individuals and work on high profile systems that will have an impact on how MassMutual processes, consumes, interprets, presents, and acts on information. They will play an integral role on a team responsible for the development, testing, and delivery of high security, high quality products.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Data Scientists, Data Engineers, Data Analysts, Product and Project Managers, and enterprise stakeholders to deliver innovative, data-driven systems aimed at transforming the insurance industry
  • Collaborate with internal business partners and the team to analyze and decompose complex application features into simpler stories for planning and execution.
  • Collaborate with the team to manage and estimate the size and complexity of the features/stories.
  • Perform the technical implementation, and testing of feature/stories and commit to what can be accomplished in an iteration.
  • Engage with team members and be an active contributor in standups, sprint planning, demos etc.
  • Learn existing applications and enhance/improve code base
  • Complete design and development tasks independently
  • Design database schemas, query, and aggregate data
  • Capture and share knowledge
  • Analyze and develop specifications for the enhancement, maintenance, and problem solving for complex applications or system(s)
  • Drive value and build to continuously improve the quality of deliverables.
  • Contribute to software engineering best practices for design, coding standards, performance, security, delivery, maintainability and culture.
  • Demonstrate capability to develop components through to production.

Requirements:
  • 3-5 years software engineering experience with expertise in Python and developing and managing RESTful API applications
  • 3-5 years developing backend applications with API services
  • Experience writing complex queries for RDBMS such as MySQL and Postgres
  • Experience with NoSQL such as MongoDB and Dynamo
  • Experience collaborating with a team of developers with varying skillsets
  • Experience with Agile software engineering principles and methodologies
  • Hands-on experience with Jenkins pipeline
  • Hands-on experience with AWS Stack (Lamda, EC2, Kubernetes, Terraform, etc)
  • Experience with R a plus
  • Experience with AWS Managed Airflow a plus
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, similar technical field of study or equivalent practical experience
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future

Salary Range:
$121,800.00-$159,800.00
