Chevron is accepting online applications for the position Water/Wastewater Engineer through 11/27/2022 at 11:59 p.m. (Central Time)  

This position will provide technical consultation on wastewater/water issues to business units across the Enterprise, will report to Waste and Water Manager in the Environment and Sustainability Group in the Chevron Technical Center. This position is relied upon to understand water-related business activities and advise on water management and technology solutions based on environmental and business risks. Make a difference by supporting business units across the Enterprise to identify opportunities to deliver business results that provide higher returns and maintain license to operate. Collaborate as subject matter expert with business and cross-functional teams to advance Chevron’s Environmental Focus Areas objectives. Participate in water technology R&D projects in collaboration with industry partners, universities & research institutions, and vendors. Participate in technical evaluation and long-range strategic and technology planning for water management to accelerate environmental performance in an ever-changing market condition. Demonstrated expertise in solving complex water management problems. Experience in piloting and operating at least one advanced water technology (i.e., desalination, membrane filtration).

This position works with Chevron operations to understand water-related business problems, identify, and evaluate management options and develop innovative solutions to enhance water stewardship across the value chain.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Plan and analyze water treatment technologies performance including, but not limited to, treatability studies, water circularity (reuse, recycle) studies to enhance water conservation and long-range strategic plans

  • Apply concepts of circularity to increase efficiency and create recycle, reuse and conservation opportunities in operations and potentially across the value chain

  • Support innovative technology transition, material recovery and water management plans to support environment and sustainability aspirations and lower carbon commitments

  • Develop monitoring and pilot test plans to evaluate effectiveness and improvements of new technology and process

  • Evaluate engineering and process design, drawings and develop cost estimates

  • Execute projects and develop engineered solutions

  • Develop and monitor operational compliance strategies to meet federal, state, and local regulatory requirements

  • Communicate transparently and set clear expectations with project teams

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in Facilities, Operations, New Energies and Technology Ventures to develop innovative solutions

  • Partner with business improvement networks and engage with subject matter experts to leverage shared expertise

  • Technical consultation and recommendation to project teams and operations in required time frame

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Chemical, Environmental, or related field

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters, PhD in Civil, Chemical, Environmental, or related field

  • 5+ years of experience with water or wastewater management

  • Fundamental understanding of biological, chemical, and physical water separation processes and energy-water nexus.

  • Demonstrated expertise in water management in at least one of the following: petroleum and/or bio refinery, shale and tight operations, hydrogen, and renewables

  • Understanding of circular water management concepts, water lifecycle framework, energy-water nexus, water resource planning and conservation

  • Produced water management experience is a plus

  • Consulting experience in an engineering firm is a plus

  • Experience in project execution and developing engineered solutions is a plus

  • Experience with project management and capital budgeting is a plus

  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) Licensure, or ability to obtain
