Job Summary:

Support efforts to resolve product and/or process technical issues impacting product quality and delivery. Solve complex issues in a precision injection molding and injection blow molding environment through structured problem solving and implementation of solutions that meet quality and production goals while adhering to company procedures and industry and regulatory standards.  The desired candidate should have experience with resin replacement, process capability & other statistical methods relevant to manufacturing processes, data analysis, problem solving methodologies (Six Sigma, 5 Why, 8-D), and error proofing.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Provide Mechanical Engineering support and Technical Leadership to the Plastics Engineering Team

    • Monitor and analyze molding process performance to define continuous improvement opportunities in daily production.
    • Implement quality and cost improvements
    • Create Statements of Work and lead designs for specialized molding, assembly, and secondary equipment.
    • Develop and maintain molding process and tooling documentation
    • Establish and maintain process validation testing and documentation of new and existing molds, machines, replacement resins, and processes
    • Evaluate Plastic Processing Equipment for productivity and quality improvements and initiate business cases for new capital equipment.
    • Lead and execute primary resin replacement activities in a regulated environment (FDA/ISO/Automotive) while meeting project deliverables.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Plastics Engineering, or related degree.
    • 4+ years experience in manufacturing or process engineering in a plastic molding environment.
    • Experience with injection molding, injection blow molding, and secondary processing operations related to plastics in a high-volume operation.
    • Experience with data driven analysis methods such as DOE, SPC, Mold Flow Analysis, and FMEA.
    • Experience using CAD/CAE tools (SolidWorks preferred), GD&T, Minitab (or other statistical analysis software), and project management tools.
    • Knowledge and experience in process development using Scientific Molding practices.
    • Demonstrated technical leader with an ability to prioritize, focus efforts, overcome obstacles, and complete key objectives.

    Bonus Skills:

    • Experience with Lean Manufacturing tools desired.
    • Proven Project Management experience desired.
    • Knowledge of critical material properties of polymers and how they influence the molding process and final product.  Experience with the processing of polyolefins preferred.
