Who we are:

The Broadband Communications Association of Pennsylvania is an association of Pennsylvania broadband and cable operators, equipment suppliers, programmers and other allied companies that advocates, communicates and educates about industry positions to public policy makers, opinion leaders and the general public in order to enhance member companies operations, competitiveness and profitability.

Your role:

We are seeking a motivated and creative Director of Communications that will be responsible for overseeing the flow of communications and information to various internal and external parties. This position is responsible for developing a strategic communications plan to include earned social media, events, and proactive outreach to members.

We’re looking for someone with a head for strategy and heart for vibrant storytelling. This is a leadership role that requires vision, a global perspective and the ability to collaborate across our membership on behalf of BCAP and its members. The successful candidate for this role is someone who loves innovation and understands how to develop fresh content for all outlets.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver a best-in-class communications program working closely with staff, members and other pertinent organizations.

  • Develops strategic initiatives to increase awareness, drive visits to web properties, and executes digital PR
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key business, consumer, tech, and education journalists who are important to telling the broadband story.
  • Develop and manage materials such as photos, press releases, talking points, FAQs, op-eds, and policy/position papers
  • Publish daily press clips and weekly BCapsules
  • Assist in the organization and execution of various events, including the PA Broadband Summit, legislative receptions and events, member tours and visits, technology summit, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Ability to work under deadlines
  • Willingness and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing, evaluating, and measuring press campaigns.
  • Experience pitching stories and driving awareness for owned media, driving impressions and web visits.
  • 4-year degree from an accredited institution in Communications, Journalism & Mass Media, Marketing or related field or appropriate combination of education and significant experience.
  • Proven Media Relations Experience: at least 3 years experience preferred in a communications leadership role.
  • Strategic and Commercially Oriented Thinking: significant experience developing strategic media and public relations plans that further partner outcomes, reach multiple audiences, and drive proactive visibility.
  • Creative Thinker: The ability to think quickly, creatively, and problem solve.
  • Collaborative approach: The ability to navigate internal relationships and stakeholders diplomatically, convincingly, and credibly; intellectual rigor and emotional intelligence are a must.
  • Effective communication: As a State Association, high quality written and spoken communication is essential; this person must be an effective and credible conveyor of information both internally and externally.
  • Trend Spotter: Cultural savvy, curiosity, a knowledge of popular cultural and the ability to tie our industry to that.

The range of starting pay for this role is $65,000-75,000.

This is a full-time position.
