We are looking to add a Senior Spacecraft Operations Engineer II to our Internal Missions team. If you are great at what you do, enjoy working in a startup environment, and are passionate about developing space hardware for leading-edge communications satellites, we would like to hear from you.

In this position, you will be responsible for driving the development of CONOPS for Cesium's satellites and mission systems including the analysis and design of the mission operations center and operations software. The ideal candidate will lead daily satellite operations, train team members, conduct operational dress rehearsals prior to key operations, and coordinate all assets to effect mission success. You will also create operational guidelines and handbooks, document operational anomalies and resolutions, and utilize Cesium ground and space assets to serve customer missions.

As a Cesium spacecraft team member, you will work on a small team to develop satellites and put them in orbit. The successful candidate will also present engineering design review materials to our customers and executive team, as well as participate in proposal-writing efforts. As such, excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.

Requirements

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Aerospace Engineering or other engineering degree combined with applicable technical experience.
  • Minimum of 6 years of industry experience operating satellite and ground segments
  • Strong understanding of operational principles
  • Understanding of the product breakdown of a communications satellite
  • Proficiency in Python or similar


Preferred experience includes:
  • Python, C++, MATLAB, or other programming languages
  • Experience with multiple failures in test or on orbit that guide your approach to operations
  • Experience with fault recovery and mission success on orbit
  • Experience across a range of satellites from CubeSat to large satellites


The salary range for this role is $125,000 to $150,000; however, CesiumAstro considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills.
