TITLE: Storage Cloud Architect

Location: 100% Remote

EST/ CST Time Zones

10- month contract w/ possible extension



Our Client is looking for a Storage Cloud Architect to join our Data Management Services Team to provide cloud storage and backup architecture that is scalable, reliable, and redundant. The focus is on the reliable operations of our software pipeline from code commit through testing, and into production.



What You'll Do:

• Architecting Azure storage solutions for on-prem => cloud connectivity.


• Utilizing DDvE/Dell Vault product create a ransomware mitigation solution for the business in Azure.


• Mentoring team in technical skills serving as a senior source of expertise.


• Familiar with automation and scripting (preferably Terraform, however, if you have a strong background in scripting/programming and feel you can figure out terraform scripting that is fine.)


• Driving automation to aid productivity to minimize the traditional Operational effort and maximize Infrastructure as Code.


• Build a framework for the business to automate restores of data from Azure. (Not necessarily write the programs to do this but be able to provide applicable APIs for teams to use for automated restores.)


• Promoting the implementation and adoption of common infrastructure, tools, solutions, patterns & best practices that can be shared across all our engineering teams.


• Managing cloud spend.

Skills / Experience You Will Need:

• Backup experience


• On-prem storage experience, Dell Unity, Data Domain, Dell Avamar, or similar.


• Cloud storage experience (preferably Azure We have purchased Dell's DDvE product. Must be familiar with it, or comfortable deploying & configuring it.)


• Cloud backup experience (preferable Azure, must have experience with backup policies such as immutable storage for ransomware mitigation/protection.)


• Automation/Scripting Experience


• Solid experience leading Site Reliability or Software Engineering teams.


• Delivery of resilient application stacks via Infrastructure as Code and other DevOps, CI/CD practices.


• Strong skills in setting, communicating, implementing, and achieving business objectives and goals through the direct management of others.


• Ability to act as a point of expertise, advise others in the team on best practices and impart knowledge. You will have a sharing, mentoring, and educational aptitude.


• Strong and enthusiastic technologist, able to demonstrate a broad technical knowledge.


• Able to work independently and across time zones.


• Diagnosis and resolution of complex system and application issues.


• Monitoring and ongoing support of critical, high revenue business applications.


• Experience in working in an Agile environment.

Technical Skills

• Experience in designing Amazon Web Services architecture for fault tolerance, scale, and cost.


• Experience in automating


• processes and deployments in Azure.


• Strong experience with Azure services


• Experience in ensuring high-security integration for governance and compliance.


• Ability to see opportunities for improvement, take ownership, and work closely with others to drive operational improvement.


• Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to correlate system behaviors based on known interdependencies between those systems.


• Use of orchestration tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.


• Experience with Linux and Windows servers including support and troubleshooting.


• Knowledge of change control and associated procedures.


• Professional Experience with common source control tools e.g Git, SVN

Development

• Coding and scripting experience e.g. Bash, Powershell, Python, or other.


• Continuous Integration/Delivery Tools e.g. Gitlab, Github, Jenkins.


• Cloud Architecture and system design to solve key business problems and facilitate team goals.

Security

• Ability to recognize and escalate Security issues.


• Experience performing applications using static/dynamic security and penetration testing tools.


• Familiarity with different types of security vulnerabilities and tools for countermeasure.
