The opportunity

As a ESG Technical Solution Architect you will work primarily with clients to help them enable technology assets in their sustainability initiatives. You will bring your deep understanding of ESG tools, applications, and data vendors, to help EY deploy or craft new sustainability solutions. Your role will be a vital one it will inform Technology Consulting's choice of technologies, and you will help shape client engagements from a sustainability perspective. You will also budget and manage project resources, reporting to senior client directors during these initiatives.

Your key responsibilities
  • Evaluate current enterprise architecture and enable business strategy into processes, data assets, ICT systems and technology.
  • Drive forward the toolset and approach EY Technology Consulting will utilize for sustainability technology projects
  • Define solution architectures and designs as part of software development lifecycle. This might include new "green fields" development or changes to existing system landscapes.
  • Lead teams and provide thought leadership on solution options, technology choices and delivery approaches.
  • Drive solution evaluation and selection including buy vs. build decisions, and early-phase project estimates which contribute to business cases.
  • Build relationships with ESG technology vendors and other business units within EY to help equip the team to deliver sustainability technology projects
  • Deliver ESG technology engagements on a standalone basis or as part of larger transformations
  • Manage and/or participate in commercial activities, responding to client requests and promoting our work and expertise beyond EY
  • Work with key project roles (e.g., delivery managers, tech leads, project managers, business analysts, etc.) and organizational roles (e.g., enterprise architects) to ensure solutions are aligned to the enterprise architecture and meet business needs.
  • Coach junior team members and proactively participate in developing and strengthening our practice
Skills and attributes for success
  • At least 5+ years' experience in a Tech Lead / Solution Engineer / Digital Solution Architect or similar role: designing, developing, and supporting solutions across one or more application domains.
  • Hands on experience working as part of agile engineering teams providing detailed technical leadership.
To qualify for this role, you must have
  • Experience in architecting distributed systems
  • Experience in application development
  • Expertise in a variety of coding technologies such as; Java, Node, React/Typescript and/or .Net
  • Strong leadership, communication and analytical skills.
  • An ability to distil complex information into a clear and concise understanding. Including the ability to functionally decompose problems identify how different functional needs will be met by a technology solution.
  • Ability to operate a different level of abstraction from technical architecture design through to architecture strategy definition.
  • Good working knowledge and/or certification in current cloud-based technologies and solution patterns (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP, REST, APIs, Data and Analytics Platforms).
  • Experience in building microservice and event-based digital solutions.
  • Experience in product selection and working with software vendors.
  • Solid understanding of financial services business and how technology solutions can support business outcomes.
  • An ability to produce quality project management and/or technical documentation.
  • Confidence to engage and collaborate with a range of stakeholders.
  • Knowledge and capability around contemporary development methodologies such as Agile/Scrum, DevOps, and other continuous delivery concepts.
Ideally, you'll also have
  • Client facing management consulting experience.
  • Experience using one or more ESG centric tools or systems
  • Exposure to corporate reporting and/or regulatory reporting on ESG issues
  • Experience in design and implementation of ESG-related initiatives and/or reporting
  • Experience in at least one of the ESG pillar (environment, social or governance)
  • Understanding of at least some ESG regulations and their impact on financial services firms
  • Previously engaged in environmental & social impact assessment; or
  • Engaged in carbon emission management; or
  • Engaged in human rights implementation; or

What we offer

We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where youll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The salary range for this job in most geographic locations in the US is $83,600 to $153,300. The salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $100,300 to $174,300. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options. Under our flexible vacation policy, youll decide how much vacation time you need based on your own personal circumstances. Youll also be granted time off for designated EY Paid Holidays, Winter/Summer breaks, Personal/Family Care, and other leaves of absence when needed to support your physical, financial, and emotional well-being.
