Division of Facilities Management - Northern District


The Division of Facilities exists to plan, design, construct, operate, maintain and manage the Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS) facilities and campuses according to all applicable standards in a manner that promotes the CDHS mission of providing safe, sanitary and effective environment for clients, youth, residents, consumers and staff and enhances the quality of life in CDHS facilities and campuses and the surrounding neighborhoods.

 
Facilities served:  The facilities managed by the Division of Facilities Management (DFM) include 1,400 acres of land and 349 buildings comprised of 3.8 million square feet. The North district facilities are Colorado Mental Health Institute at Fort Logan (CMHIFL), 1575 Sherman, Wheat Ridge Regional Center (WRRC), Sunada (SLC), Satellite Group Homes, and the Division of Youth Services (Gilliam, Lookout Mountain, Marvin Foote, Mount View, Platte Valley, Prairie Vista YSC, and Ridge View).

This is  a regular, full time, essential services designated position. Position may require availability for shift work for coverage outside normal business hours and ability to adhere to call-backs to perform essential and/or emergency services.

What You'll be Doing

This position exists to respond, troubleshoot, and correct building client issues during normal operating hours as well as outside of normal operating hours.  This includes, but not limited to, building temperature control, minor plumbing and electrical problems and minor building security issues (locked doors, broken windows, etc.).  Position also makes machine room rounds/equipment checks.

Duties:
  • HVAC troubleshooting, repairs and adjustments to a variety of different types of HVAC systems for patient, client and laboratory comfort. 
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repair tasks on HVAC systems including:  filter changes, coil cleaning, and other related work. 
  • Monitor and control expenses in accordance with the budget. 
  • Analyze logs, printouts, other materials, and information that apply to the operation of the mechanical systems. 
  • Administrative duties including Maximo work order system, labor tracking, reconciling Purchasing Cards, and completing required monthly status reports.
  • Must comply with the safety program and tool and key control.
  • Snow removal.

Minimum Qualifications:


Three (3) years of progressively responsible pipe and/or mechanical experience including HVAC systems, boiler, chillers, air handlers, and control systems, to include experience in trouble shooting and repairing systems.

Substitutions:

Successful completion of a formalized training, apprenticeship program or vocational trades school may substitute for the experience on a year-for-year basis.

Special Necessary Requirement:
  • Must possess a current and valid Universal CFC (chlorofluorocarbon) Certificate
  • Applicants must attach a copy of your current and valid Universal CFC
Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be willing to submit to a background check.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license. 
  • Must be will to travel
  • Must be willing to receive an annual influenza vaccination or provide a document for a medical exemption or a letter for religious exemption.
  • Must be willing to test for Tuberculosis (TB) test.
  • Must be available for call back to perform essential and/or emergency services without delay and/or without interruption
  • Must be available for shift work may be requested to work various hours for coverage outside of normal business hours
  • Use, Handling, or Exposure to hazardous materials – Explain: Proximity to moving, mechanical parts, Exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals., Exposure to electrical shock, and or working in high exposed place.
  • Former State employees who were disciplinarily terminated or resigned in lieu of termination must disclose the information on the application and provide an explanation why the prior termination or resignation should not disqualify the applicant from the current position. Absent extraordinary circumstances, prior disciplinary termination or resignation in lieu of termination will disqualify the applicant from future State employment with CDHS. 
  • Effective September 20, 2021, this position will require documented proof of full COVID-19 vaccination. New employees will be required to provide attestation to their status with proof of vaccination within thirty (30) business days of hire.

  • On or after October 31, 2021, each facility shall ensure all newly hired employees, direct contractors, or support staff members are fully vaccinated at the time of hire, or receive their first dose of a two-dose protocol, or a single-dose vaccination, prior to providing any care, treatment, or other services for the facility and/or its clients.

An appeal or review must be submitted on the official appeal form, signed by you or your representative. *Sign-On Incentive:

Upon approval, a sign-on incentive based on position, ranging from $2,000 to $7,000 (prorated if a part-time position), will be given in three payments: within two pay cycles of when the new employee starts at CDHS, 180-day anniversary and 270-day anniversary with CDHS. These incentives will be available to the first 1,000 new employees in select high-need positions.
