GENERAL SUMMARY

The Regional Sales Manager (RSM) is responsible for increasing Functional Devices (FDI) revenue in the Western US Region, developing new business relationships, and generally managing all aspects of the relationship with the FDI resellers, including product training, negotiations, strategic planning, and promotions. The RSM will be challenged to find and attract new resellers throughout their assigned territory.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS*

  • Identify and qualify potential new resellers
  • Establish contractual relationship where applicable
  • Provide and/or facilitate orientation, onboarding of new reseller and initial product training
  • Building and maintain long-term relationships with key customers
  • Analyze accounts and develop appropriate strategies for increasing sales and achieving sales goals
  • Gather all relevant information relative to contact information, bill to information, ship to information, affiliations, pricing levels, sales quotas, and other required information and document in FDI ERP system
  • Maintain and track sales history in CRM
  • Work closely with product and marketing Managers to develop successful go to market strategies
  • Make joint sales calls with reseller's sales representatives as frequently as possible commensurate with revenue level
  • Provide ongoing updated training to reseller
  • Maintain document regular contact with reseller commensurate with revenue level, activity and industry trends
  • Participate in industry conferences and tradeshows where applicable

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is moderately quiet. This position is subject to varying and unpredictable situations; may handle emergency or crisis situations; is subject to many interruptions; may handle multiple calls and inquiries simultaneously; and may occasionally handle absentee replacement on short notice.

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the above essential functions satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, ability, physical and environment conditions required on the employee on the job.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree in business, engineering or related field required, OR applicable industry experience of greater than 5 years
  • Minimum of 2 years proven track record in technical sales, ideally in electrical distribution, lighting distribution or building automation
  • Prior knowledge with Controls, HVAC, electrical, lighting, and/or building automations systems required
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office suite products

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Strong communications and presentation skills a must with strong technical aptitude and problem-solving ability
  • Excellent verbal skills
  • Proven organizational ability, inter-personal and negotiation skills are required
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services
  • Ability to travel approximately 50% of time
