JOB SCOPE
The team is tasked with managing applications and platforms that are focused on data routing, data collection, data transformation and data distribution/delivery. We are currently looking for a Principal Engineer to join our Data Management team that provides infrastructure and implementation support for Splunk, Cribl, Hadoop, Kafka, data set collection (SNMP/IPDR), data transport and data stream management/delivery, and all associated integrations for these platforms.

JOB SCOPE
The team is tasked with managing applications and platforms that are focused on data routing, data collection, data transformation and data distribution/delivery. We are currently looking for a Principal Engineer to join our Data Management team that provides infrastructure and implementation support for Splunk, Cribl, Hadoop, Kafka, data set collection (SNMP/IPDR), data transport and data stream management/delivery, and all associated integrations for these platforms.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- The team performs regular installations, maintenance and upgrades of these applications and platforms.
- The team maintains heightened scrutiny of these services through several means to provide troubleshooting and resolution with issues and outages in an operations environment.
- The team responds to and troubleshoots all NOC and Support Center trouble tickets for all products that the team maintains.
- Write highly detailed procedures and other technical documentation to be referenced by technical peers and senior leadership in a knowledge base
BASIC / MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) from four-year college or university in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Management Information Systems; or equivalent training, education, and experience
- Minimum of Eight (8) years of experience within Systems Engineering; working with Unix and Linux operating systems; specifically troubleshooting and providing administration for both virtualized and bare-metal implementation
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience with implementing and supporting large enterprise OSS applications and platforms
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience working with big data platforms, data analytics and data streaming
- Integrating data platforms with a wide variety of legacy data sources that use various protocols
- Experience working in data center hosted and cloud infrastructure environments
- Extensive experience leveraging automation for daily tasks, reporting, monitoring, data collection, data analysis and break/fix actions
- Have very advanced problem solving, critical thinking and analytical skills
- The ability to work in a team environment and work effectively with people with diverse technical skills
- Be a mentor and source of advanced knowledge for more junior team members
- Advance knowledge of and experience with choosing the appropriate lifecycle and the planning, monitoring and control of the systems engineering process
- High level understanding of networking topology, internetworking and load balancing
- High-level expertise working with JIRA/Confluence platforms and applying Agile methodologies using KANBAN/Scrum within operations teams
- Experienced with architecting and deploying enterprise application implementations in medium to large sized environments
- In depth knowledge of and experience with development tools, application frameworks, and testing tools
- The ability to design Splunk reports and dashboards using complex data elements
- A passion for analytics, for helping users/clients and sharing the stories and meaning in their data
- Experience in translating business requirements into concrete data analytic solutions
- Expertise in programming with Linux Shell Scripting, python and Regex
- Extensive experience with Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins, Git, CI/CD and other similar configuration management, automation or deployment tools
- Telecommunication industry experience
- Certifications for Splunk, VMWare, Red Hat/Linux, Data Center Operations, CI/CD
