Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE:APD), a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases, is seeking a Plant Project Engineer for the Gulf Coast Ammonia facility in Texas City, TX.
The facility is a greenfield build for what will be the world's largest single train ammonia plant and marks the expansion of Air Products Gulf Coast presence into a new geographic area at Texas City, where we currently have no operations.
The facility assets include Air Products largest Steam Methane Reformer at 175MMSCFD H2, a 100,000 Nm3/Hr Nitrogen Air Separation Unit, a 3600 T/D Ammonia Plant and Ammonia Pipelines, 60 MW of Steam Turbine Power Generation and large Utility System. The facility has connections to the Air Products Gulf Coast Pipeline system for Hydrogen and external parties for Natural Gas, Water and Power. The 3600 T/D Ammonia Plant is owned by a 3rd party, Gulf Coast Ammonia, with separate Environmental Permits, but is operated by Air Products as part of the integrated operation of the overall facility.
Based at the Texas City production facility and collaborating with the Facility Manager you will work closely with the operating team, maintenance team, regional project engineering organization, and commercial organization in the development, planning, execution, and control of maintenance expense projects and small capital projects and be the owner of the facility EPC warranty process for the facility units and infrastructure.
Responsibilities of the position include:
Provide support for the development, execution, and control of assigned proposals and projects, with the goal of achieving project completion on time and within budgets without compromising safety, quality, or reliability.
Project scopes of supply may vary widely, but will generally include engineering design, materials and equipment procurement, resourcing, construction, start-up, status reporting, and close out.
Be the facility single point of contact for communication, initiation, tracking, and resolution of all EPC warranty items
Have responsibility from the technical aspect for leading a project team in defining and completing an agreed upon scope of supply. This includes, as required by the specific project, performing and/or the coordination of resources to complete the design, procurement, fabrication, installation, start-up, and commissioning tasks.
Assume ownership of the project safety, budget, schedule, and technical quality to achieve the project and business objectives established at the start of the project. A typical project team consists of a matrixed organization and may also include external contractors and consultants.
Qualifications
B.S. degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
Able to communicate effectively to a broad audience of varying levels of technical understanding.
Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment and diverse team setting.
Self-motivated and well organized with a validated ability to prioritize independently.
Desire to make a measurable positive impact to plant performance and AP's profitability.
Experience leading Root Cause Analyses (RCAs) is a plus.
