The Water Business Line of AECOM is actively seeking a Senior-level Geotechnical Engineer. The position is located in Baton Rouge, LA or New Orleans. Other locations within Louisiana will be considered based on person’s specific experience and type of work available in the area.



The Water team brings together the skills of project managers, civil engineers, H&H engineers, geotechnical engineers, structural engineers, and environmental and planning specialists to provide integrated, sustainable and cost-effective solutions. Projects include flood risk reduction systems, dams, levees, floodwalls and floodgates, water supply, tunnels/trenchless technology, roads water/wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations, pipe networks, sewerage, and outfalls.



You will work alongside our project managers throughout the project design and delivery cycle, making technical decisions in various design stages of water and wastewater utility projects to include carrying out feasibility studies, reference designs, detailed designs, and preparing reports and technical specifications. You may be asked to mentor junior staff which will call for excellent leadership and communication skills.



This position is for a Senior-Level Geotechnical Engineer with 10 to 20 years of experience, who will act as a task or discipline lead on projects. You must be able to demonstrate a positive can-do attitude and be customer focused, a critical thinker and problem solver, and ready to apply your knowledge and skill sets in order to establish a rewarding, long-term career utilizing principles and methods for geotechnical engineering projects. Additionally, you would work directly with other disciplines to develop creative solutions for our clients.



The Geotechnical Engineering Team in Texas and Louisiana is unique, as it works on a variety of large, high profile projects for a variety of industries including Water, Transportation, Architecture, Environmental, and Construction. This involves site investigations, soil laboratory testing interpretations, all manner of geotechnical analyses and calcul



Minimum Requirements :



• BA/BS + 8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education



• Professional Engineering License required, as well as the ability to obtain PE license in 6 months in both Texas and Louisiana.



Preferred Qualifications :



• Must have strong technical progression within geotechnical engineering



• Proficient in GeoStudio, UTexas4, LPILE, GROUP, SHAFT, Plaxis, FLAC, Settle3D, and MathCAD



• Expertise with and ability to make informed decisions regarding drilling, field investigations, laboratory testing, advanced material characterization, seepage analysis, slope stability analysis, settlement, and construction of dams, levees, channel improvements, and other heavy earthwork projects.



• Expertise in various construction techniques and phasing to help develop unique, cost effective solutions for our clients.



• Ability to travel 10% or more, as needed



• Ability to support marketing effort in pursuing alternative delivery work with a focus on geotechnical engineering



• A positive attitude that motivates the project team.



• Ability to work on fast paced complex projects



• Ability to work on multiple ongoing projects at the same time



• Willing to work overtime if needed to complete a task to meet the client’s schedule or request



• Note that our team mostly works remotely, so you must have very strong communication skills and the ability to work with a team across the nation and the world. Benefits of this method of work includes flexible hours and flexibility to work from home or the office.
