The opportunity


We are looking for a Solution Architect to join our Professional Services team, which is a client-facing and hands-on group focused on empowering utilities to adapt and innovate by providing expert consulting

and solution implementation services, based on Opus One (from GE Digital) DERMS products.

Reporting to VP of Professional Services, the Solution Architect works truly cross-functionally: working closely with colleagues in Professional Services, as well as the Sales and Product team. This role requires an individual with deep technical skills as well as client relationship and communications skills.

You are a confident, passionate and team-oriented Solution Architect who understands emerging energy industry trends and implications on utilities. You can lead and execute on the implementation process with responsibility for technical leadership of Opus One (from GE Digital) DERMS software solution while ensuring seamless client management.


As Solution Architect you bring products, services and support together to construct a powerful and attractive offer for Opus One’s customers. You think strategically, have a sharp focus on revenue generation, are able to dive into appropriate technical depth when required, and evangelize the solution that would best meet the customer needs – internally and externally.


What will our new Solutions Architect work on?


  • Work on strategic projects to closely to define customer priorities, requirements, perform rapid assessments of customer’s internal technology infrastructure.

  • Design a solution based on Opus One product platform to help customers achieve both business and technical goals.

  • Lead project implementation with responsibility for technical leadership for the solution, ensuring overall project quality and technical excellence throughout the project.

  • Work closely with Professional Services and Engineering colleagues to ensure that solution is being delivered according to customer’s technical functional and non-functional requirements, and based on industry best practices around software delivery.
  • Design custom development and integration solutions such as API specifications and payloads to deliver customer solutions.

  • Oversee solution integration, implementation, and testing activities.

  • Review technical deliverables and coach and mentor Solution Specialists and Grid Analysts.
  • Collaborate closely with Product team to deeply understand product capabilities and roadmap, and provide feedback based on customer needs.

  • Participate in RFP responses and presentations to prospective customer to articulate and align the business objectives and technology solution.

  • Estimate efforts and costs associated with proposed solutions, working closely with Project Managers.

  • Communicate a win strategy during deal qualification stage for every business opportunity based on Opus One Solutions' differentiation.

  • Support complete sales cycles and lead pre-sales presentation preparation, RFP responses, on-site demonstrations and provide input at deal closure on SOWs.

  • Serve as power systems and utilities subject matter expert for the Delivery team.


Requirements


Here’s what you bring:


  • Education
    . You hold a BS/MSc in Engineering with a focus on power systems or relevant experience.

  • Experience.
    At least 10 years of relevant experience with grid software solution architecture and implementation, either working at a grid software provider, consultant or utility. You have experience deploying hardware and software integrations in utility applications such as SCADA, Operations, ANM, OMS, DMS, ADMS, and DERMS.

  • Knowledge.
    You are highly familiar with emerging energy industry trends and implications on utility customers around DER management, distribution planning, IT, SCADA and asset management. You are also highly knowledgeable about software delivery, including software programming and scripting, data and system integration, Cloud, Docker, Kubernetes, etc.

  • Leadership.
    At least 3 years mentoring or managing more junior technical team members.

  • Client management
    . At least 5 years of experience interacting with external clients, preferably utilities.

  • Excellence.
    You get things done on-time and within the project deadlines.

  • Teamwork.
    You are self-motivated collaborator that can also work as a successful independent researcher.

  • Communications.
    You have exceptional written and oral communication skills, able to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences and provide high-level summaries of the solution to the C-suite.

  • Innovation
    . You have the ability to anticipate problems and provide strategic, creative, quick - and reliable - solutions to complex problems.
