Senior Process Engineer - PTFE
The Chemours Washington Works facility located in Parkersburg, West Virginia - the first commercial producer of PTFE in the world - needs to fill a Senior Process Engineer position available due to retirement. This is a highly visible, key role within the Company and the PTFE Team. This position will report to the PTFE Manufacturing Technology Manager.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
This role will be part of a multi-disciplinary team that has responsibility for Process Safety Management, day-to-day plant operations, new capital installation, new product commercialization and continuous improvement in our PTFE Polymerization area.
The PTFE Area includes areas that are designated as high hazard processes and requires Process Safety Management (PSM) excellence. Unit operations in PTFE include pressure vessels, polymerization reactors, coagulation, drying, and liquid and solid transfer.
Specific items in the job scope:
Act as a lead Process Engineering resource.
Ensure that Process Safety Management principles are allied to all aspects of production, modification & improvement in the area
Recommend and implement solutions to drive continuous improvement.
Design and conduct process improvement tests in the plant
Leads and participate in Capital Programs to upgrade equipment.
Lead and participate in troubleshooting, as needed.
Lead and participates in Incident Investigations.
Lead and Participates in Process Hazards Analyses.
Support customers and the Quality Management System
Provides Environmental reporting support.
Travel requirements are <10%.
In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:
A Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution
Minimum of 4 years of engineering experience.
Minimum of 1 years in a Chemical Manufacturing Process.
Demonstrated knowledge of typical equipment used in a Chemical Plant (i.e. pumps, compressors, piping, valves, reactors, dryers, etc.).
Demonstrated ability to identify, prioritize and execute improvements that support the Business goals in Safety, Throughput & Cost.
Superior Oral and Written skills.
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
Willing and able to wear required PPE (personal protective equipment) such as steel toes, hard hat, Nomex, eye protection, respirators, etc.
Demonstrated understanding of OSHA 1910 (Process Safety Management).
The following skill sets are preferred by the business unit:
A Master's degree in Chemical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution
5 years of engineering experience.
3+ years of experience in a High Hazard Chemical Manufacturing Process.
Experience leading/participating in Process Hazards Analyses.
Six Sigma Green Belt (or higher) Certification.
Experience with PTFE or other polymerization processes.
