What you will do

Stryker is looking for a dedicated, hands-on Senior Software Design Engineer to join our dynamic and growing organization. You will be responsible for the design and implementation of the Stryker “Holodeck” hospital simulation platform that provides real world clinical communication and collaboration voice and messaging workflows to exercise and analyze Stryker product releases. You will also be designing and implementing other advanced tools to be used by product development teams to enhance products. This position reports to the Manager, Advanced Tools Development.

  • Design and implement Stryker's “Holodeck” hospital enterprise solution simulation platform and other advanced software tools to exercise, analyze, and enhance Stryker product releases
  • Work with cross-functional teams to enhance the “Holodeck” platform, as well as product releases and other advanced software tools
  • Follow software engineering clean architecture practices and SAFE Scaled Agile processes
  • Support, troubleshoot, and resolve issues pertaining to “Holodeck” platform and other advanced tool software
  • Review and contribute to the necessary documents/issues/processes as needed
  • Conduct or design advanced testing and problem solving to identify potential solutions, and evaluate them against component and sub-system requirements
  • Translate user needs to design-inputs/acceptance-criteria
  • Develop and design software systems per requirements and architecture defined
  • Identify and support the creation of or improvements to procedures, policies, processes, systems, and technology
  • Contribute to product development from concept through release
  • Design, develop, modify, evaluate and verify software components
  • In code reviews, apply design principles, coding standards and clean architecture best practices

What you need

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

  • Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering/Computer Science or related discipline & 2+ years of work experience

Preferred Qualifications (Strongly desired):

  • 4+ years of development experience with 3+ years of experience in data modeling, messaging protocols or networking
  • Proficiency with OOP methodologies, design patterns, and clean architecture (Kotlin lambdas, coroutines and flows; Java; Dagger2; RxJava a plus)
  • Experience with Linux, BASH, Postgres, MSSQL, Git, Wireshark, and Jira, along with SCM, code review processes, and Agile software development methodologies
  • Experience with networking and protocols including the ability to analyze network traffic and protocols
  • Proven ability to design, develop, build, test, and support scalable and highly available enterprise solutions
  • Results driven, hands on approach to the full software development life cycle from architecture to testing

$81,300 - $173,300 salary plus bonus eligible + Benefits (Health, Vision, Dental, 401K, Tuition Reimbursement, Employee Assistance Program, Wellbeing Program, Employee Stock Purchase Program). This information reflects the anticipated salary range for this position based on current national data.  Actual minimum and maximum may vary based on location.  Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors.
