The following position is to join our Corporate or Research Center Team:

Additive Manufacturing Process Engineer

The Additive Manufacturing Process and Capability Center (AMPCC) encompasses a critical mass of Additive Manufacturing process and industrialization experts, the necessary equipment, and develops the strategic collaborations needed to rapidly mature the technology and manufacturing readiness of Additive.  The aim of the Center is to accelerate the development and deployment of additive manufactured products and systems for our business units.

The Additive Manufacturing Process Engineer will be responsible for one or more of the following activities as they relate to the AMPCC, including:

  • Develop advanced process parameters to enable complex geometries and enhanced material properties required to industrialize aerospace components.

  • Investigate the effects of machine variability on build quality and properties of fabricated parts.

  • Execute and oversee builds on various Additive Manufacturing machines.

  • Develop and maintain Standard Work, Operation Sheets, and Process Sheets for equipment and processes used in Additive Manufacturing.

  • Support the installation, commissioning, and operation of Additive Manufacturing equipment.

  • Monitor, troubleshoot and correct issues associated with process or equipment.

  • Provide process input to design engineers to optimize parts to leverage additive technology.

  • Utilize data driven analysis to support root cause investigations.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of engineering principles and hands on experience working with laboratory equipment. 

  • Work effectively in a multidisciplinary, collaborative team environment focused on innovation and have demonstrated both verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong presentation, planning, problem solving, organizational, project management and decision-making skills.

  • Hands- on experience operating and maintaining metal laser powder-bed-fusion additive manufacturing equipment.

  • Experience with software and tools used in Additive Manufacturing including CAD packages.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Highly self-motivated and able to execute tasks in a fast-paced environment.

  • US Citizenship required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Practical knowledge of RTX projects, programs or systems with the ability to make enhancements and leverage in daily work.

Education:

  • A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 2 years prior relevant experience.  A minimum 3.5 GPA is desirable.

  • Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience.

Engineering/Other Technical Positions:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics(STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
