Salary: $80,700 - $89,700



Fuller Theological Seminary, one of the world’s most influential evangelical institutions, seeks a strategic, collaborative, experienced leader to serve as Director of Student Financial Services.


The successful candidate will:


  • Provide strategic leadership that demonstrates a deep understanding of the financial aid landscape, a collaborative approach to building a high-functioning, student-centric team, and relevant experience navigating a changing industry environment.

  • Design and direct implementation of a long-term plan for strategic allocation of financial and human resources that support Fuller’s goals for enrollment stability, student success, diversity and inclusion, and financial sustainability.

  • Manage prioritization of Fuller’s financial aid and student accounts processing to ensure the efficacy of all processes, compliance of all documentation, and seamlessness of all electronic functions within Fuller’s financial aid programs.

  • Lead Student Financial Services in developing accurate working knowledge of federal and institutional aid policies and best practices including those related to financial aid application and award deadlines, notification practices, satisfactory academic progress,

    FAFSA-eligibility, and international student considerations for applicants and students in Fuller’s two schools of Mission and Theology and Psychology and Marriage and Family Therapy.

  • In conjunction with Enrollment Systems and Processing, design a long-term plan that expands and enhances the technology stack that supports the operations of Student Financial Services including further development of Banner capabilities and other ancillary systems to deliver timely notification to applicants and students regarding SFS-related communication.

  • In coordination with the Director of Student Experience, design workflow that prepares for and responds to student inquiries to the Welcome Center and Student Service Desk about Student Financial Services-related topics in a way that is efficient, accurate, hospitable and compliant.

  • In collaboration with the Director of Admissions and Director of Academic Advising, equip Team Members within the Office of Admissions and within Academic Advising with the Student Financial Services-related tools, information, and resources necessary to

    reach new and returning student goals.

  • As a member of the Global Recruitment, Admissions, Marketing, and Retention (GRAMAR) Leadership Team, serve as a campus leader and strategist to advance the vision of GRAMAR to deliver the highest level of service and create the strongest sense of belonging for every student and learner who joins Fuller’s rigorous and formative learning community.

Federal Loan Team; Student Accounts Team; Scholarships Team; Student Health Insurance Team; Federal Work Study program


Education and experience:
Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred; 7 years relevant experience preferred



Knowledge skills: Leadership styles for high-functioning, student-centric, financial aid and student accounts teams; management practices for oversight of federal, state, and institutional funds; financial aid models that positively impact enrollment; student service programs for on-campus, online, domestic, and international students; financial aid operations, processes, and systems in complex institutional structure; process mapping for key day-to-day operations within financial aid office environment; relevant working knowledge of institutional enrollment

and diversity goals.



Abilities: Build long-term strategy for responsible, efficient, and effective deployment of financial aid budgets to support enrollment goals; direct and coordinate the hiring, training, and development of new staff; create and sustain a growth-oriented mindset within staff team to develop future leaders; responsibly manage institutional, state, and federal funds; establish and monitor fund and fund limits for federal, state, and institutional accounts including grants, discounts, scholarships, federal work study; oversee annual awarding of scholarships, discounts, and fellowship programs; direct day-to-day processes related to student accounts; provide relevant financial aid data to campus stakeholders; direct the completion of year-end close activities (direct loans, student accounts, institutional aid); produce information related to

required annual and ad-hoc reports with special emphasis on Single (A-133) Audit.

Remote work is available subject to payroll state approval by Fuller Theological Seminary.

In-person on-boarding required at Fuller's Pasadena, CA campus
