The key account manager is responsible for selling Spanish and English language titles to accounts through a designated territory including Mexico and South America. The key account manager is also responsible for managing inventory, managing the backlist, placing key titles on various promotions, forecasting inventory needs, participating in tactical planning meetings with publishing, and reporting to stakeholders.

The Spanish and international unit is a high paced, quickly changing environment. While our methods may change over time, the goal remains the same, to find ways to create a bridge between HarperCollins and the consumer in our international Spanish markets. This position is for someone who enjoys being challenged and who can contribute with out of the box ideas.

This position requires international travel approximately 8 10 times a year.

  • Present Front List titles to buyers after each sales conference (3x a year).
  • Manage backlist orders, stock levels, and promotions with retailers and wholesalers across assigned territories.
  • Work with accounts to implement promotions, in store placement, catalogs, mailers, websites, etc. for key titles, authors, and brands.
  • Review sales data with accounts and make inventory adjustments to meet account needs.
  • When appropriate, create custom products to gain shelf space with accounts.
  • Report on a weekly basis to supervisor on sales, pending issues, accomplishments, challenges, etc.,
  • Actively participate in tactical sales meetings.
  • Participate in routine sales meetings with supervisor and peers.
  • Respond to customer requests.
  • Read and interpret reports to manage accounts, manage discounts, returns, trends, etc.,
  • Travel to markets for meetings with accounts and to attend trade events.

Work Experience: Minimum 5 years of sales experience in Christian and/or general market retail or wholesale in the book industry

Education: Bachelor s Degree in business administration, marketing, management, related field, or the equivalent in work experience

Industry Knowledge: Knowledgeable in the book industry, retail, and wholesale, knowledge of the Christian industry is a plus

Skills:

  • Must be fluent (written and spoken) in both, English & Spanish.
  • Computer proficient, word, excel, power point, etc.,
  • Sales experience of 5 years minimum with a proven record of success.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills required.

The salary range for this position is $64,000-$95,000. We recognize that attracting the best talent is key to our strategy and success as a company. As a result, we aim for flexibility in structuring competitive compensation offers to ensure we are able to attract the best candidates. The quoted salary range represents our good faith estimate as to what our ideal candidates are likely to expect, and we tailor our offers within the range based on the selected candidate's experience, industry knowledge, technical and communication skills, and other factors that may prove relevant during the interview process.
