Position Summary


Warehouse Managers lead their team by setting productivity goals, placing inventory orders, setting up logical organization systems and creating communication systems within the warehouse. They direct shipments and resolve logistical challenges by communicating with Business Unit Leaders and suppliers. Warehouse Managers determine standards for quality control and inspect inventory and packaging before sending orders to the next location. They strategize about inventory volumes and warehouse capacity to maximize productivity, reconfiguring warehouse for improved efficiency while allowing Warehouse employees to easily navigate between aisles. Warehouse Managers track inventory levels to dispatch employees according to the company needs. Oversee operations to ensure all incoming and outgoing inventory is processed according to schedule and procedure. Their duties include managing resource needs for Warehouse operations, coordinating the training of new employees on the use of various machinery/equipment and monitoring and adhering to compliance and regulatory standards.


Tasks And Responsibilities


  • Manage warehouse employees, monitoring work and ensuring the safe use of warehouse equipment.
  • Set warehouse and team goals in collaboration with executive management.
  • Monitor workplace performance and lead training initiatives to improve employees.
  • Keep up to date on the latest federal and state safety regulations.
  • Maintain certification(s) with adherence to applicable current regulatory & environmental requirements, such as: Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), Department of Transportation (DOT), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and other regulatory agency requirements to mitigate Environmental Compliance Risk Indicators (ECRIs) or Notice of Violations (NOVs)/Notice of Enforcement (NOEs).
  • Acquire and maintain a Class A/B/C Operator for Underground Petroleum Storage Tanks.
  • Acquire and maintain OSHA 30 certification.
  • Communicate with other departments to ensure products are shipped in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for stock/standard material purchases, storage, and distribution.
  • Responsible for developing and managing Capital and Maintenance budgets for multiple sections to include developing cost estimates, cost benefit analysis, and preparing business cases to support proposals.
  • Inspects physical conditions of warehouse and equipment and orders testing, maintenance, repair, or replacement as necessary.
  • Responsible for overall operations of multiple work locations, with multiple shifts, throughout the CPS Energy Service Area.
  • Conducts audits/investigations/safety observations for compliance of policies and practices; collaborates with Business Units to develop best practices.
  • Assists with employment decisions for direct reports (hiring, terminations, performance appraisals, staffing levels, etc.
  • Provides leadership, coaching and mentoring, employee development/engagement; drive/improve workplace safety through Behavior Based Safety (BBS) principles.
  • Lead professional salaried and wage scale employees through extensive working knowledge of Wage Scale Agreement and Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
  • Develop and review productivity metrics, extract, and analyze statistics for optimum inventory levels, project improvements, etc.
  • Understanding of the various procurement processes to develop and manage contracts for procurement.
  • Manage field representatives of enterprise contracts to ensure contracts for material and services are maintained, amended, and renewed as per our corporate policy.
  • Communicate, collaborate, and influence at all levels with all business units to facilitate decision making.
  • Maintain working knowledge of business processes and process improvement methodology to develop.
  • Adherence to Lean Inventory Warehouse Management.
  • Make decisions related to emergency work conditions.
  • Manages the disposal of materials including best value to CPS Energy in scrap recycling, and reselling of materials and equipment.
  • Manages asset recovery processes and procedures to ensure proper reuse and disposal of material in accordance to environmental standards.
  • Works in adverse conditions, including coal dust, heat, cold, and high noise levels.
  • Understanding of heavy equipment operation and safety standards.

Ability to articulate the business problem to be analyzed, quickly identify the critical elements of the problem, achieve a high-quality answer in a timely fashion, and synthesize answers to resonate with decision makers


Knowledge of Root Cause Analysis methodologies (Taproot, Ishikawa-Fishbone, 5-Why, Kepner-Tregoe, etc.)


Acquire and maintain military clearance through CPS Energy vetting procedure to access JBSA facilities


Preferred Qualifications


  • Master s in Business or Finance (Can be substituted with extensive experience of Warehouse/Manufacturing experience)
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) and or Agile Scrum Master Certification
  • Experience in operational leadership role
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams, people and projects in a matrixed organization
  • Experience working with Union officials, representatives and CPS Energy s manual of working conditions
  • Experience in Gas or Electric Utility industry
  • Experience in:

Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions or other business related events. After hours and call duty rotation work may be required.
