Senior Linux Systems Engineer - Allen, TX

We are seeking an experienced Linux Systems Engineer to implement the next-generation probing platform while also supporting the existing platforms. You will be involved in the specification and evaluation of complex, high-performance packet processing systems. You will evaluate new technologies and define their use in future products. You will model designs in a simulation environment and verify real operation in the lab. You will also be responsible for defining product requirements, testing definitions, holding design reviews, and approving design tradeoffs. You will collaborate and coordinate with external vendors and internal customers. The design team supports multiple business units, so you will be involved in multiple projects with different business owners. You will be responsible for responding to and addressing internal and external customer tickets. You will be involved in addressing field quality issues and productivity improvements. You will also provide mentoring and technical support for the engineering team.
Responsibilities include:
Create new product requirements to direct our partners and vendors to deliver a customized and optimized product offering.
Create platform validation procedures using process, scripting, and automation.
Evaluate and approve new product offerings from our vendors and partners for new projects and existing product lines.
Manage engineering change and deviation processes to resolve technical issues and implement continuous improvement.
Assist our Manufacturing, Quality and Supply Chain groups in solving production, process and quality issues as well as continuous improvement and cost reduction.
Interact with our service team to resolve customer cases via our Support CRM System and live debug sessions.
Replicate customer issues and evaluate fielded configurations in a lab environment.
Assist with security vulnerability identification, mitigation, and removal using our vendor's early alert systems and scan tools.
Required Skills
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Electrical Engineering or equivalent discipline
5+ years successfully working with highly quality software systems
Experience with Linux operating systems, structured scripting languages, and shell scripting.
Python scripting experience is preferred
Knowledge of Windows and Unix operating system environments.
Ability to write technical articles outlining problems resolution and troubleshooting steps (contribute knowledge to the knowledge base)
