Resp & Qualifications

PURPOSE:
Drives enterprise optimization by introducing capabilities (inclusive of all functions) for their domain of responsibility utilizing in-depth knowledge and expert skills to advance domain strategies. Translates business needs for the domain into architectural solutions that meet performance, reliability and security expectations. Applies enterprise roadmaps, principles, standards, and practices to drive their domain strategies and execution.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Partners with cross-functional teams (network, security etc.) to design infrastructure architecture, manage the infrastructure lifecycle, and ensure high availability and disaster recovery capability of critical systems.

  • Performs in an architecture role for IBM tools and technology in an IBM AIX/Power data warehouse environment pro-actively identifying and planning for HW/SW and environment refresh cycles. Architect will serve in "expert" role and will be on point to support the projects team questions on all technical matters, including working with other technical leads and SMEs for other technology tools and platforms (i.e. AB Initio, Cognos, WebSphere, DB2, Tableau, Axway, Tivoli System Monitoring, App Dynamics, Ansible, etc).

  • Supports collaboration with IBM for overall vendor relationship, and participates as needed in issue resolution with IBM's escalation support path (i.e. PMRs).

  • Creates and maintains architecture diagrams, including infrastructure, network and storage; recommends and leads technology and environment refresh activities.

  • Elaborates functional requirements into technical specifications in order to ensure effective development processes with internal and external partners, and to support project and infrastructure-related implementations.

  • Leads the execution of IT deployment plan in order to ensure deployment efforts are aligned with the agreed solution.

  • Evaluates overall IT infrastructure strategy in order to ensure optimal system performance, availability, and maintainability.

  • With support from internal IT technology teams, recommends appropriate firewall, routing, and network security configurations.

  • Assesss and provides recommendations for optimizing use of existing tools, and/or to identify recommended procurements to supplement the existing environment.

  • Identifies areas for improvement within existing environment, and helps to develop improvement opportunities to be reviewed and discussed with the business owners.

  • Supports issue management activities, including evaluation, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and issue resolution with recommendations on process and/or architectural changes as part of the solution.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Education Level: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field OR in lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required in addition to the required work experience.

Experience: 10 years Experience in Architecture Domain, with focus on IBM tools and technologies

  • Ability to managing cross-domain architecture solutions and issues.
  • Expertise with domain related architecture frameworks, methods and tools.
  • Effective organizational, interpersonal/relationship management, analytical, communications (written and verbal) and collaboration.
