The Department of Workforce Services (DWS) is looking for applicants to fill two Agency Information Security Officer I positions (AISO I).

The AISO I is a senior level job that ensures information security regulatory compliance and coordinates various audit responses. They ensure proper access controls are in place and enforced. An AISO I develops policies and procedures that provide guidance on proper security measures for the handling of agency data. Finally, an AISO I supports the management of various technical projects in collaboration with agency partners.

Position may be filled a 2-year Career Mobility if a current DWS employee is selected.
 
Principal Duties
Employees typically perform activities which may include:
  • Support data security and system access functions for the department. 
  • Act as a liaison to and coordinate projects and activities with Department of Technology Services, DWS Management, DWS Business, and Federal and State partners. 
  •  Assist in information gathering and coordinate with multiple business and technical partners in order to respond to information security related audits. 
  • Work with business and technical partners to monitor and implement business and system changes per federal and state recommendations. 
  • Serve as a background check administrator and take employee fingerprints. 
  • Serve as an administrator for agency enterprise applications. 
  • Draft information security policy and procedures based on nationally recognized information security standards (National Institute of Standards and Technology, IRS Publication 1075, etc.). 
  • Track and coordinate project deadlines with relevant stakeholders to ensure timeliness requirements are met. 
  • Review systems and practices to ensure compliance with information security procedures, policies, regulations and standards. 
  • Coordinate with business partners to define requirements and standards that can be taken to technical partners to develop or update systems. 
  • Interact with staff to resolve technical system issues and assist with additional
    training/support to maintain desktop standards. 
  • Help customers identify better ways to utilize the systems’ capabilities. 
  • Assess business needs for additional hardware, software, and data. 
  • Be adaptable to working in an unpredictable environment where assigned tasks and projects may change daily.  
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate for this position will have:
  • The ability to work independently and also work well with others in a group setting.
  • Enhanced attention to detail. 
  • Experience in participating in project management, program review, or audit activities. 
  •  An interest in information gathering and fact finding for projects. 
  • The desire to learn nationally recognized security standards and be involved in the
    information security community. 
  • Adaptability in working in an environment where assigned tasks and projects may change. 
  • Current or previous experience working for the State of Utah.
