SUMMARY

We are seeking a highly motivated, outgoing, and innovative Director of Business Development who will bring new thinking and approaches to delivering revenue growth from corporate partners. This is a highly strategic role that requires creativity, resilience, and the ability to partner effectively. WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR:

The Director of Business Development will primarily be responsible for building CEDIA's portfolio of sponsorship, event, and media sales opportunities to increase revenue from these activities and increasing the number of new Corporate Memberships sales. We will also expect the Director to maximize the take up of products and services with both existing and new corporate members to exceed current growth plans.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.

       Research, identify, track and solicit relevant new business opportunities that align with the association's strategy

       Build robust year-round business pipelines from new and existing partners to meet revenue and new business goals and to strengthen the long-term financial health of the association

       Assist in the development of annual new business goals and revenue targets

       Establish and maintain strong relationships with corporate partners

       Negotiate and manage commercial deals

       Ensure outstanding customer service

       Proactively ensure timely communication with all internal and external stakeholders, supporting collaboration to achieve shared goals across the organization

       Develop and give new business/sales presentations on a regular basis

       Maintain consistent contact with potential new business contacts/leads, as well as existing partners, regarding existing or future opportunities

       Network within the consumer electronics, IoT and technology community for new lead generation

       Research and analyze new or evolving markets for the organization, leveraging strong quantitative analytical skills

       Use Customer Relationship Management system to track and monitor business pipeline

       Represent CEDIA to the technology industry at events and maintain strong and trusting relationships with key partners

       Establish and track sales objectives each month and achieve forecasted sales by following a written plan of action

       Understand the organizations financial and program data to continuously monitor revenue and other relevant metrics

       Monitor customer preferences to determine focus of sales efforts

 

REQUIRED SKILLS:

       Facility and comfort with setting and keeping track of sales metrics and sales data to track achievement of goals and for reporting to leadership and/or Board of Directors

       Proven track record in meeting annual sales goals, executing on strategic plan goals and developing/executing on new business/growth strategies

       Awareness of what it takes to work and succeed in the non-profit professional association sector is also desirable

       Outstanding written and oral communication skills with proven experience in managing and writing sales and partnerships proposals and agreements

       Knowledge of the discipline of project and program management

       Excellent interpersonal skills. Effective internal and external communication is a key requirement of the role so you will be required to have proven presentation and public speaking skills

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

       Bachelor's Degree required; MBA preferred

       10+ years of experience in new business development and strategy, a portion of which in the non-profit/ association sector

       National sales experience a plus

       Proven experience and a track record of B2B sales and account management

       Experience in selling sponsorship packages, communications, and event programs

       Extensive experience in all aspects of customer relationship management, including use of CRM systems

       Proficient in Microsoft Office suite

WORK SCHEDULE & TRAVEL

 

Due to the nature of this role, it may be necessary to work irregular hours from time to time (including during weekends) as well as approximately 30% travel. 


COMPENSATION

This position falls under an OTE (On Track Earnings) pay structure and will be comprised of a base salary and quarterly commissions based on meeting predetermined performance targets.
